Well I am back with yet another jersey concept. This time, I am making a series of Adidas rebrand concepts for all 30 NHL teams.
I will be taking into account recent team politics, new jerseys, new branding, team branding, team history, etc to fix the NHL. I will be taking a safe, inside the box approach to each redesign as if it were done professionally and not as a hobby.

Glad to say there will be no ads, no stripes, and no restrictions on designs, meaning designs that were possible prior to the RBK Edge jersey will once again be plausible (Dallas Stars old uniform amongst others).

I will try and make at least one concept per week as a minimum, but expect more than one a week.
Would love feedback on the series in general.

For this first concept, I chose to fix the Islanders. With the move to Brooklyn, the "I" pointing to the location of the Coliseum is no longer a feature that is needed in the logo. I did not design this logo, but I love it. It works perfectly. Keeps the original branding pretty close to intact. Honors the history of the Islanders with 4 stars representing each Stanley Cup. Has 1972 representing the inaugural season of the club. Simple, safe design. The new 3rd jersey keeps things Islanders-y but with a small Brooklyn-y twist while not going over the top.

I don't like the logo.

The only thing they should do is make the stick point towards Barclays Center.

I don't really like the NY in their current logo or in the one you made, but I can't think of anything better.

I didn't make the logo guys.

But yes, I can see how some of you can see an "M".

Any word on the actual design though?

If you're going to leave the template for the Isles' 3rd jersey the same as their regulars, it should be orange, IMO.

Also the logo, while not bad, isn't as good as their current one.

The design is great, because it's not any different than what they have now. But hey, that 3rd jersey is still better than any 3rd the Islanders have ever tried.

Shouln't be there 3 stripes down the pants?

I think those 2 stripes don't fit into adidas' design concept .. from my opinion.
So : 3 stripes or something other then only 2 ..

Overall, this looks good - but as others already mentioned, that "NY" looks more like "M"

Read what I wrote in my original post. I explain why I kept the template the same and why I used black.

To add to that, with the Oilers coming out with an orange 3rd, the Ducks coming out with an orange 3rd, and the Flyers already rocking the orange, that might be a whole lot of primarily orange jerseys.

Thanks for the feedback though.

Ah ok, my bad. I don't mind the black, I think it looks good, it's that it's tough to work blue into that, you know? And O&B is very heavily Flyers associated.

My main focus was on the concept itself. But I do admit, the three stripes would make more sense.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hence why I didn't work it in ;)

It was impossible to do so. I think the black is inevitable for the Islanders. The club has been trying to work it in with the past 2 3rd jerseys they've had, on top of a rumored new one too.

I think black is kind of cool for the Islanders. You picked a really tough team to do a concept for though. Their current jerseys are pretty flawless aside from that creature of a 3rd.

Your concept looks nice in itself, though; I would try some teams that really need jersey help. It's a nice layout.

Again, as mentioned in my original post, I am going to (hopefully) make one for all 30 teams.

And I agree, that's why I attempted to change as little as I could to the current set up, just with an updated logo. It would be wrong to see the Islanders change the main template of their jerseys. They're beautiful.

I am not just trying to be insulting but those are very similar to what they have, which makes the whole premise of creating a new kit rather boring. Try something new.

If you want to avoid MY then use the top left part pf the y and connect it to the diagonal in the N.

I think the design is fine, no real criticisms. I agree black seems inevitable for the Isles so I think that's a realistic shot at a 3rd and it looks sharp.

I know you didn't design the logo but you used it so I'm going to comment on it - not a big fan. It's not horrible but it looks a little too busy. A simpler logo would better compliment your simpler design.

I think the Isles jerseys the way they are. Very classy style.

I don't really like them honestly but the blacks would be a good 3rd jersey. It fits the Brooklyn style. Good work regardless though dude.

No offense but meh. I also figured once they moved to Brooklyn they might change their name to Brooklyn Americans or something like that.

I'm not crazy about having a black "sky" in the alternate logo, as it creates a black-on-black effect for the uniform. The visual result is the crest seems to kind of blend into empty space rather than sticking out boldly. And it would look especially odd on a real product, because the crest is made of a different material... you'd have a glossy black against a matte black.

I'd try some creative solutions on the alternate crest... either giving it some color in the "sky", making the entire background orange, or just dropping the circle and using something like their Stadium Series logo.
