I'd like to propose a rule where a player over 40 is not eligible to be checked. Why? There are very few older players and it's a shame when a legend like Jagr is essentially banished despite wanting to continue playing. There should be some level of consideration for an older player just not having the physical body of a 18 year old. Something that incentivizes older players to stay longer in the NHL if they want.
So they wear a special jersey like the orange ones in practice when they are coming back from injury and have no contact rule. So they cannot be checked.
Do you think this would be a fair incentive or do you think it would give too much advantage?
