Well I would hope it's more than just "colors in the logo." As for being proven, maybe, but I would think if it was proven sponsors might not change so frequently.

People remember commercials or logos from years ago... jingles or slogans too.

My question with Adidas kits is why do you need the symbol on the chest? Everyone knows your brand by the 3 stripes, you have them on the sleeves, no need for the other symbol as well.

What? Of course you want that. Every photo the jersey has your logo beside some of the biggest club logos in the world. Massive marketing opportunity.
