Timo Meier's value plummetted because he played hurt for a while to try and help his team?

To start the year:

11 points 5 goals, 14 games.

He got injured, and played through a leg injury for a month that significantly impacted his skating speed and overall play (his speed was down 20% over this time frame). He then stopped to get fully healthy and what do you know.

Since getting healthy

36 points, 18 goals, 39 games.

brady Tkachuk has 35 goals and 70 points in 78 games this year
a healthy Timo Meier has paces of 34 goals and 69 points per 78 games this year.
if we are allowed to cherry pick portions of a season, then Slaf is a 70 point player per his production since Dec15 when he turned his game around.

Buy you can’t.

Timo will have to prove he can be healthy and produce at a consistent rate for a season before regaining value. Right now he’s not worth his contract!

Juraj Slafkovsky has put up excellent points production since getting put into an incredibly beneficial role alongside Suzuki and Caufield+ 4minutes a night on PP1 yes.

It is very important to add context to every stat.

If you see something that seems unusual, it's time to think about the context. It will usually paint the picture.

Guy who had been consistently 35 goal, 70+ point pace for 3 years suddenly stops producing. Let's look for context before assuming he forgot how to play hockey

Ahh, player is injured, his skating speed is down significantly, and when healthy his results are perfectly normal.

Guy goes from 20 point pace to 70 point pace. Hmm, did he suddenly get a genie grant him a wish and make him a better hockey player? Let's look for some context 1st.

Ahh, player got moved from garbage linemates and PP2 to 4 minutes a night on PP1 and onto the top line with 2 excellent players. That explains it.

Again you can look at it the other way. A bunch of people thought Slaf sucked to start the year. I used context and realized he was in an atrocious situation coupled with some brutal shooting luck. His underlyings were very good and he was due for improvement, in both luck and situation.

You can cherry pick stats and that is your choice. But the fact is Timo has underperformed relative to his contract. His value as a result has decreased. End of story.

If Timo is a 70+ point player this season based in cherry picked stats, then so is Slaf! lol. Perhaps that’s why Slaf is the concensus 1OA!! ;)

Timo's value has dropped yes, because he now is 2 years older and has less control.

NJD isn't trying to trade him tho so it doesn't matter to us.

Again, as is blatantly obvious with every interaction, none of your analysis goes any deeper than the surface.

His value dropped because his production dropped relative to his cap. But i will concede the other reasons you provides. Its a combination!

but you have.
Slaf is currently a 50 player with high potential. Next year 70 is in reach…

And so Brady Tkachuk's value has also dropped this year because his production has dropped relative to cap correct?

Two of them three of them? Are you “Sens fans” or just you?
We are legion and so are Flames fans and Sens fans.

Sens fans get offended when someone wants to trade for Brady but then also get offended when someone says their team isn't a good fit for Brady.

Flames fans don't understand that this offseason there are going to be more goalies available then at the trade deadline and Markstrom has less term on his contract.

Every NHL fan is part of a hivemind and said hivemind is stupid.

Devils fans are legion? Really? Does the power of Bratt compel us?

Just can’t wait to see what “winner” Brady Tkachuk leads the Sens to next season.

Clearly, the Sens shouldn’t trade him, what with the “winning DNA”, but more importantly, nothing about the Devils suggests they should sell the house for another winger either.

The Devils should try to trade Weegar, not Markström. Weegar has a NTC, so he necessarily wouldn't accept a trade, but one can always try. Of course, Weegar's value is high, so the offer would have to be very good for the Flames to even consider it.
