so I wasn't on here yesterday but apparently folks would rather fight about the goal song than watch football... what a total mess... but thankfully it's coming to an end soon.
Have you seen the Giants record??

Did I miss something? Is the team caving soon?

I would absolutely cancel my season tickets & stop going to games until they change it back.
In the meantime I'll just purchase a fake mustache and get my tickets last second before puck drops on Stubhub.
Perhaps RG means this topic is nearing 1000 posts and soon to be closed? Surely we won't open another thread to discuss this debacle, right?

yes nearing 1000. And apparently from the social media traffic the team/ops is well aware of the issue so we don't need to debate the issue in here so much as let it play out at the arena and through the media outlets where we can let them hear our opinions directly.
(a somewhat hopeful plea not to have another thread about this)
Cancelling season tickets because of a goal song Sounds absurd, but it is not entirely irrational
Answer the question, why would you pay the high cost of a ticket, food, etc to attend the game at the arena instead of watching from home, where you arguably see the game better and it is a whole lot cheaper
Part of the reason is because it's fun being in the crowd and participating at alive event. If it becomes less fun, then you may question if it is worth the money

Did the team ever respond on social media?

people posted responses from email and twitter on here I believe talking about the goal song is being "shopped" in essence the next few games.
I'm not keeping up to be honest, I find the entire matter irritating enough without trying to parse this thread for valuable contributions.

Again, my opinion is that if you are BOOING a GOAL SONG, then maybe you shouldn't have season tickets to start with.
I couldn't care less if they played the Barney theme after we scored a goal, quite honestly.
It's amazing then, that 25 or so other venues manage to have fans in the seats at all, without R&RP2...
I haven't reached irritated yet but I know I will 10/19. Nothing will be worse than hearing 17k fans boo, in unison, my favorite team scoring a goal with our rival's fans sitting a row in front of me.
I really do hope the Devils avoid the inevitably of that.
Well then you have fun other ways. I think there's a line everyone crosses when they buy seasons. Something you experienced at the arena allows you to justify paying thousands of dollars for a lesser view, more expensive food, and all that jazz.
To some it's the fun atmosphere.
Would you feel better if people worded it differently? "I don't think I'll renew my seasons because I'm just not having as much fun as I used to?"
I think that's perfectly reasonable.
Other arenas have other traditions that I'm sure would drive fans insane in a similar fashion. Though I do admit that if Habs fans or Hawks fans didn't renew I doubt the franchises would care (fanbase). But try that in more volatile areas (pulling traditions, that is) and I think you'll get a similar reaction IF executed as poorly as the Devils did.
I continue to love how we deflect responsibility. It's the Devils fault if I/we boo.
Are you there to cheer the song, or the ****ing players busting their ***** out there?
Like ZBC said, who gives a **** what they play. Anyone who boos after (if) we score on the Rangers on 10/19 should really think twice.
my point is that your idea of "fun" relies on the 10 seconds a goal song plays than I don't think you should have season tickets to start with.
What kind of fun is appropriate? Come on.
There is no other chant in the arena aside from maybe (Zuuuuuuuuub and Mar-ty) that unites the fanbase. So it's perfectly reasonably that people associate a Devils Goal + Goal Horn + Chant + Atmosphere with fun.
I just don't think you're giving proper credence to the reality that when you're drinking with friends at a hockey game, chanting with 17k people (whatever it is your chanting) can very well be the most fun part of a game.
