OT: New Goal Song Talk Part 1

I was very surprised to learn that Nashville scores goals.

There were only 2 teams the Devils outscored last year.

Nashville and Florida.

Frankly, this thread is nearing it's 1000 post point, and out of those ~1000 posts, the most intelligent idea belongs to Sarge.

KEEP the RRp2 song if you must (despite that whole multiple r*pings of children thing, the whole massive child porno collection thing, the whole.....well...I'll stop there ), but BLAST the goal horn right after the crowd yells "Hey" every time.

Not only would that kill the "You Suck" thing, but it would make for a pretty awesome sound effect with the horn to the music.

That's dumb. The horn would become irritating over time. I don't need to hear the horn 10 times every time we score a goal.

I put 4 out of 5 odds on RRp2 being restored as the Devils goal song. Like I said, if the Devils completely caved before why wont they completely cave again?

The irony of that is if they do cave, Devils fan are going to chant "You Suck" even louder than it was before.

i have no problem cancelling my season tix if they don't restore the original goal song. its one of my favorite things to be honest, seeing those rangers fans so pissed when we score a goal.

That's a little much, it really is. This feels like politics, some of you are so radical one way I want to side with the PC brigade, but then the PC brigade gets so unreasonable I want to side with the yahoos who act like this is taxation without representation.

Which is why I don't care for either radical wing of the political party, or either wildly divergent viewpoint here. And I'm pro goal-song and anti-Devils trying to impose a new one on the fans in the dead of night...but if you can't find something to enjoy about a game besides the dopey goal song then you really shouldn't be going to games in the first place. Just stay at home where you can play the song yourself.

The goal horn is perfect. That's why it shouldn't be overdone. It worked well with RR2. Shame they had to ruin it.

I'm not going to say I went to games solely because of the goal song, but this new one was just crappy quality, quiet, and no one really knew what it was or what to do. I listened to the song on youtube, and it doesn't get me amped up at all like a goal song should. It's just a horrible choice. I hated the Ole song as a horn but I'd settle for that at this point. Just change it to something else.

This....I would think fans who get season tickets do it for more reasons than a stupid goal song.

You're really setting an incredibly high bar there; that said, I think you're right.

I wouldnt stop going to games because of a goal song, that is a little much. I will be happy to chant "Change it Back" or Cheer when we score and then stop and sit back down when the new song comes on and then get with the acapella crowd for a little bit of RR2. Maybe even get a chant started just to piss off the Devils like right when the song ends get a "This song sucks" chant going.

I'm not a season ticket holder. Don't own a car and live too far away to go regularly.

But if I was, I'd consider cancelling my tix if the crowd in the arena is going to be dead. Other than the "MAR-TY!" chants, most of the Devils chants are meant to be insulting. "Marty's better", "Rangers suck", "Flyers swallow", "Hey, you suck", etc. (That Baumann "D-E-V-I-L-S WHAT'S THAT SPELL?" chant always sounded extremely lame to me. I don't partake in it.)

It's fun. It's uniting. It's the reason not to watch Steve and Chico, when you live an hour away. Overpriced food and beer certainly isn't the reason.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "If the team doesn't change it back to Rock & Roll Part 2, I'll stop going", but "If the team doesn't find a goal song that the crowd gets behind, I'd stop going" is fair. I'd never stop being a Devils fan, and I'd never stop buying Devils merch, but going to a game is boring if the crowd isn't behind it, and nothing united Devils fans more than 15,000 of us standing up after a goal and telling the other team that they suck.

It pretty much comes down to.....R&Rpt2 was perfect for the Devils, is perfect for the Devils and the fans love getting into it with that song.

You know that empty feeling you get after a game where the Devils didn't score any goals? That feeling of wanting more, like you never got the full experience of the game.....thats how I felt after the game on Friday.
