Im long time reader, but really post.

Looking at the islanders roster I'm don't see all three of these guys making team(Nelson, Strome, Lee). Who you think will go to minore.

Okpose-Tavares-X
Kulemin-Grabovski-X
Baily-Nielson-Grabner
Martin-Cizika-Clutterbuck

ex: MacDonald

Hamonic-Dehaan
Hickley-Vishnevsky
Strait-X(Reihart/Pulock....)

ex: Carkner

Halak
Johnson/Poulok

Looking at roster it look Lee probably would be in minor again. Im wish there was room for him too, but im don't see. So who you think will be in minor

According to Newsday, the isles are looking to move either Bailey or Grabner in a trade for a 2nd pairing defenseman.

I would rather keep Grabner. I think he is a dangerous PK threat.

If one of them is moved, that opens a top 9 spot.

I am looking forward to a very competitive training camp

Yep. How do you send Lee down if he is out producing other forwards and the isles need to get off to a strong start?

The problem is you don't want him playing on the 4th line so he may be better off playing top line in BPORT

I don't even see a place for Colin McDonald on this team...

It would be nice if snow could move Bailey as part of a package for a defensive upgrade. Would make this problem a lot easier.

Nelson-Tavares-Okposo
Kulemin- Grabo- Strome
Lee- Nielsen- Grabner
Martin-Cizikas- Clutterbuck

I'm hoping they do trade Bailey. I like Grabner, if he learned how to score a breakaway, he could score 30 again, honestly. He's also a great PKer. But, that being said, I feel like Lee is gonna be a good player. He has that size, that prescence in front of the net, he just seems like a guy who will have a nag for scoring goals and playing hard. Nothing like having a guy who is willing to take a beating in front of the net to get his goals. I like the kid, a lot. It will suck, but I feel like if a trade doesn't happen, he's not making the team. Nelson is a lock to make the team, Strome I would assume is as well. Man, never thought we would have too much depth at forward, it's refreshing and an awesome feeling. I just hate how we are pretty much forced to start Bailey over Lee 'cause of pretty much hope and his obligation 'cause of the contract. I hope we move him.

Moving back on topic and away from the Bailey dumping/bashing which was not the subject of this thread, I think that Strome and Nelson definitely make the team. Lee could start in Bridgeport or as an extra forward (don't want to see him on the 4th line) but I don't think that will be for long due to the inevitable injury or slump by someone. Lee will get plenty of chances this year. It is nice that we can go 13 to 14 deep at forward, a luxury that we have not had and may not be used to. Looking forward to this season, crossing my fingers that Reinhart has a solid rookie campaign and Vis is healthy, two big "IF's" but if our D is decent we will be in the mix

Seems like people forget about Conacher. I wouldn't be surprised if he is the wildcard to play top line

It's definitely going to be Lee. Regardless of what posters here think, Lee is the only only logical hockey decision. Regardless of how well he does in camp. They didn't sign Conacher to put him on waivers to start the season so he's in. There is just no room and Lee will have to go to BP unless we want to lose somebody else on waivers. Does anybody really thing Bailey would clear waivers lol...hell NO! So forget about posters hearts, the Snows of this world use their head and Lee will have to go to the bridge barring a trade.

Nelson - JT - Okposo
Kulemin - Grabovski - Strome
Clutterbuck - Nielsen - Grabner
Conacher - Bailey - Martin

Not sure about Conacher. He was a first day FA signing, iirc. Could just well be a case of "if we don't find anyone better, he'll play, if we do, no big deal losing him." And then they went and got the Grabo/Kulie package. I can see them exposing Conacher to waivers, but not Bailey.
That said, it's obvious that training camp could change a lot. It's far from a given that everyone will make it to October healthy. At the very least the competition will be fierce. And that really is the beauty of it all.

Never saw that article from newsday...

If bailey doesn't get moved I'll be annoyed, if grabner does I'll be pretty mad. If grabner gets moved to keep bailey out of the two i will be furious and will hope grabner lights us up when ever we play him...

Grabner is not replaceable

Bailey + prospect dman or draft pick will get u a top 4...how about we don't trade the fastest player in the NHL and awesome PK specialist...

They all deserve to be on the team.

Bailey does not.

Please trade Bailey for a defenseman with a pulse.

Noting the absence of Cizikas...Casey could indeed have trouble making this team.

Cizikas, Bailey, Grabs, McDonald, Martin, Clutterbuck are all candidates for trades or for Bridgeport. My guess is you will see any combination of the three gone on way or another.

Why are people putting McDonald in over Martin. McDonald isn't the best player in the world, we know that, but he has better hands, is faster and has a higher hockey IQ than Martin.

Lee is the most likley to play in BP. He's had all of 25ish games and he did well, but that could be just dumb luck. You can't raise this guy to the next level before he proves himself? By proving, I mean a full season of consistency. I would rather have someone like Conacher that actually has experience and has cracked the lineup of 3 other clubs and played many games with them.

Knowing our history we should have no problems anyway. We'll get injuries soon enough and guys like Lee will get their shot.

Bottomline is that anyone that doesn't make the team out of camp did not play well enough.

i like how we're all bashing Bailey & then saying we should get a top 4 Dman for him. Would you trade a top 4 Dman for Josh Bailey & a draft pick? I wouldn't.

As far as I'm concerned, send Bailey down. Lee's better. If Bailey gets claimed, so be it. He has absolutely no trade value. I don't think your getting an NHL caliber defenseman, much less a top 4, with him as the main part of a package.

No way it's Nelson, he was very impressive last season. Though I believe Strome is ahead in development (and in the eyes of the Isles organization), I think the decision will largely be based off training camp.
