The Taggart situation should be interesting. It was already a low bar but getting beat handily by a rival who’s also not even really good either is going to get more emotions going.

He’s got a huge buyout though & then add on whatever the other coach you would be bringing in buyout & it’s probably a pretty costly endeavor. Every fanbase is guilty of thinking their school is 100% willing to wipe their ass with large lump sum payments.

They essentially have no fan support at this point & their home games are pretty empty these days though.

So they’re really in between a rock & a hard place right now. They’re probably biting a bullet either way.

Oregon dodged a bullet when Taggart skipped town. FSU will cut their losses and buy Taggert out after this year, unless the athletic department likes having apathy and half empty stadiums. Free Shoes U is still a plum job that nearly every head coach in the country would want.

That Oregon-USC game last night was an embarrassment for the Trojans on the field and off of it. Lots of people came to the game disguised as empty seats. The Helton era is over. Mike Bohn, from Cincinnati, will be named the new AD this week and will start the process to move towards hiring a new football HC and staff.
It will be interesting to see who gets this job. Its doubtful if any school will pay more for a HC than USC. Bill Plaschke, the sports editor of the LA Times is crusading hard to keep Urban Meyer away from this job. With USC having it share of scandals in other areas, hiring Meyer could be problematic. Its doubtful that a former USC player would get the hire. Some of the early names that have been floated are Penn State's Franklin, Baylor's Ruhle, Cincinnati's Finkel and Iowa State's Campbell. Others will pop up as time goes by.
