I tell ya, when I see most of these guys driving to the net, it's just not very pretty.
They stumble, bump into each other, stagger and toss it up.

Guys in the 80's/90's, much more polished in the paint and much more pleasing to watch when taking it to the hoop.

I don't think we'll ever see another Dr. J, Dominique Wilkins, Larry Nance, or George Gervin, etc. again.
That's too bad.

The biggest problem I see is zone defence. It allows players to guard a spot on the floor instead of a person which makes give and goes, back door cuts, and good ball rotation way less effective. Making up plays to confuse the d don't happen anymore. It's pretty much setting high screens so players can get open for 3's. Positionless basketball has hurt the quality of the game. Goldenstate were game changers and their brand of basketball is elite by miles compared to the rest of the league but teams are trying to copy them which really sucks, I hate Embiid or Davis standing around the 3 point line. Both have terrible post moves, Alley oops are way down to because of Zone D.
