Comepeltely this. I didn’t even know Schmidt played for Vegas until now... lol. No reason to give up a star forward for a 3 or 4 defensman

How have you never heard of Schmidt? Unless you just follow your own team.

Vegas made it to the Finals, did you only watch the Leafs playoff games? lol. Did you Just skip watching the finals?(didn't miss much, pretty boring series)

I watched some of it... pace didn’t compare to how the leafs play their exciting style

If I'm Vegas I do it and run. Schmidt is a bottom tier defenseman with a career year on a Cinderella team. He'll be back to a 15-20 points defenseman next year.

Lol he's not a leafs fan. He changed his avatar and team affiliation through each round of the playoffs.

The Four Horsemen is the obvious one. However, four is extremely unlucky in Japanese culture for what it’s worth. The word for four in Japanese is almost identical to their word for death.

*Deeeeeeeaaaaaattttthhhhhh* (end spooky)

How about "The four Horsemen"?

Thanks for the feedback. This is a possibility. Was thinking about something that evoked the image of god(s), but couldn't think of something. Again ..... thanks!

I thought he was a player with good upward trajectory when he played for Washington actually. Not sure how he was ostensibly flying under the radar, but we don't need to follow those other feeder NHL clubs closely of course.

Whole lot of overvaluing both Schmidt and Nylander in here, mission accomplished?

Sorry, but corsi and fenwick mean nothing.
Primary assists mean nothing too if you forget about goals.

Here are EVgoals/60 regular season and playoffs:
0.232 Schmidt
0.198 Rielly
0.181 Dermott
0.134 Gardiner

And even EVgoals/60 doesn't tell the whole story because Schmidt played much more PK than Rielly, Gardiner and Dermott all together.

I guess Kevin Connauton is better than Doughty because he had more 5v5 goals

Yeah going deep in the playoffs is boring. Now watching Matthews tooling around with his clay feet and getting owned every time he steps on the ice, that's fun.

The poster who came up with that chart said
'For the record, this isn't an attempt at bashing Schmidt. Only at adding context.'
He didn't posted a stat which shows the defencive side.
Even with Connauton and Doughty the Leafs might not have scored 3 more goals in game 4 vs BOS. Leafs were only able to score 1 goal.
Why even start threads to get Schmidt, he isn't available.

Sure, the minute Toronto gets to conduct its own personal expansion draft you’ll get to grab a guy like Schmidt for free.

Caps fans were not happy in the slightest to lose him for nothing.
Yet Caps Leadership was fine with it. Didn’t really hurt them much either, now did it?

Didn’t you already post this same message about 5 times in different threads? Twice in this one alone.

So, a 1st + Schmidt for Nylander a 3rd...everything else is just noise.

As a Leafs FAN I would say a hard no.

Trying to look objectively, I think its easier to find guys like Schmidt than it is to find Nylander, so it wouldn't make sense to me trading a 1st line winger (more or less) for a 3rd or 4th defenseman. Leafs don't NEED a 1st to lose a top scorer to marginally upgrade their top 4.

"Hi there I just came here to make some noise and say some words"

This is one of the most nonsensical pair of sentences I've read on here, well done.

Goals are the most important tool to evaluate defencemen. Well I guess we learn something new every day. Next we'll find out TOI is the best way to evaluate goalies.

Do you mean Goals For or Goals Against lol
Unfortunately Leaf fans didn't come up with better stats to bash Schmidt.

But I give you another one, EVgoals/60 last playoffs
0.623 Nylander
0.455 Schmidt
0.000 Rielly
0.000 Gardiner
and Leaf fans want to trade Nylander for Schmidt lol

To TOR
Schmidt
Holden
Carpenter
1st round pick in 2020

To VGK
Nylander
Hainsey
Leivo
3rd round pick in 2019

For VGK replaces Perron and Neal with Nylander and Leivo. Hainsey fills in for defensive depth.

For TOR Toronto gets a left handed D that can play the right side with Rielly. Carpenter give TOR some jam. Holden provides defensive depth.

Peace and mutual understanding is loaded in this proposal.
