tonight, being the first road game would be a 'nice' game to win. being 2-0 instead of 0-2 takes some of that fan (only) pressure off the idea it's a 'need to win' type game, but it would definitely be a good one to win.

While the team only has jackman, hodgson, arvidsson and (Watson, bitetto) as new players, it always helps team confidence to go out and play well on the road again, even for the vets. we were 19-16-6 on the road last year (44 points). generally playoff hopeful teams figure if they can get 40+ points on road and 55-60 at home that's a guaranteed playoff type format. (last year we were 44-60). so every game and point is of course 'important'.

I expect us to see third line modifications tonight based on practice. bourque, hodgson and jarnkrok will probably get a try. with possibly neal, watson at times. I fully expect Watson to get his first start in place of arvidsson based on practice lines. want to see if Watson can contribute in that 4th line role, but I hate to see arvidsson sat down so early honestly. it's possible bourque's aggressive forechecking might help generate something off turnovers/transition for hodgson and jarnkrok. maybe we see that.

would love to see the first unit pp get something going tonight. and neal, weber and josi get started offensively somehow. it's time for our defense corps to find the back of the net, would be a good night to start.

I'll be late to the game. My daughter has her last softball game at 5:30 so I'll most likely miss a good portion of the first period.

When do we think Hutton gets his first start this season? I was thinking tonight or Thursday.

Baseball at 6 for my son as well.

There's not a back-to-back until late November. October has a bunch of two-day breaks as well. We may not see Hutton for a bit.

I would love to see a full effort. Keep this great start going.

Go Preds!!!

Got an Eagle Scout Board of Review for a young man I have been leading for 10 years this evening so it will be later 2nd before I am able to catch the game. Hopefully it will be good news all the way around when I tune in.

Go Preds!

I wouldn't think there's a reason to sit Rinne this early on, especially after how well he's played in the couple games so far.

Makes sense since the games are pretty evenly spaced out. We all know Rinne plays best when he starts every game but he's not a spring chicken anymore and I want him ready for April, May, and June.

I don't care what the score is I just want to see this

1. Complete, 60 minute effort from everyone
2. A win
3. Power play goal

Everything else is secondary.

I was going to post all this snark about priorities and then remembered that I won't be watching any of the Thursday game because I'll be at Hamlet. You lucked out.

Do good work, boys. No shifts off. Come at them every second that the clock is still running. Go Preds!

Just remember this Gentlemen; It doesn't matter how you play the game, all that matters is that you come away with a W.

Let's go Perds! I wouldn't sleep on NJ; our offense is not firing on all cylinders and Schneider has the ability to keep it close.

This is a game we really need to win. After this one, we have a pretty brutal next 10 games:

@ NYI
@ OTT
Tampa
Anaheim
Pitt
@ SJ
@ LAK
@ ANA
@ Minn
St Louis

Would be nice to be 3-0 heading into that stretch....
