I would nominate the Sasquatch, Kraken or Thunderbirds ( if the WHL team was willing to give it up.)
The Super Sonics but with Sonic the Hedgehog as their logo.
Seattle Starbucks (nice sponsorship deal and logo is cup of coffee).
Seattle Grunge (in game music all Nirvana all the time, and cheerleader uniforms right out of video).
Seattle Amazons (another nice sponsorship deal)
Seattle Defibrillators (invented there. Fans would hold them up and slap together for goals)
Seattle Blue Screens (thank you Microsoft)
Sockeye sounds really great but with Vancouver being a likely big rival and their use of a whale.. would seem kind of like a bait fish approach. I have a feeling it will be Kraken or something along those lines.
There was an ancient thread cracked many fine jokes:
Seattle Battle Cattle
some dude even photoshooped a cow in armour.
Seattle Red Rings of Death (also thank you Microsoft)
Seattle Don't get so excited just because of Vegas
Please be the Sockeyes....
Mayor Durkan: "I like the Kraken"
Seattle Sea Lions
It needs to be Sockeyes. It’s the only proposed name I’ve ever seen for this team that wasn’t terrible.
I still think Thunderbirds is the best name. Hopefully the Jr team will give it up. In PNW native American mythology I'm pretty sure the Thunderbird and the Whale were big rivals who had massive battles.
It's too perfect
Sockeyes is my favorite.
I could see them going with a regional or state name.
"Puget Sound... Pugilists?"
These are not great names, but you get the idea.
Kraken were allegedly seen near Greenland and Scandinavia, not in the Pacific Ocean.
Sooo no to kraken.
Seattle Sasquatchs is the way to go
I don’t understand why Seattle would name their team after a mythical sea monster from the North Atlantic.
Staying conservative...and keeping in mind the geography:
I'm amazed at the amount of people who think "Sockeyes" is proper English. For the love of god it better not be the Seattle Sockeyes. That'd be like the Seattle Deers
This is my favourite non-joke name. Black and green uniforms.
Separate names with a comma.
