Players have to had played for just one NHL franchise (relocated franchises count as one). You can select current players but try to reserve responses to players who have played 10+ NHL seasons.

  • One Goalie
  • Three Forwards
  • Two Defensemen

went with brodeur b/c i like his puck-moving ability, especially in conjunction with that of the d-men.

I'll go off the board a bit and pick Jean Beliveau to center Mike Bossy and an out-of-position Bobby Clarke ... balanced line with lots of everything. Dryden, Lidstrom and Potvin in the back.

:)Could we add one extra attacker in case we have to pull the goalie?

After a conference call to myself, sure. It is within the bylaws.

 That's great.

OK, here's my favorites...

f: Sakic
f: Beliveau
f: Yzerman
d: Potvin
d: Lidstrom
g: Brodeur
x: Clarke

...plus they were all great captains. Someday, I hope to add Toews to that team.

Alot of guys listed there haven't played 10+ seasons, Ryan Smyth has played for 3 different teams in the last 2 years.

Thanks for the Smyth catch. You're right he shouldn't be there. This is just a hand kept list from a spreadsheet I put together. It's not a query from a database like pnep could provide. I'll update my list though. I really have come to appreciate players in ANY sport who have managed to stick with one franchise their entire career. I realize that some on my list haven't played for 10 years either but it's wishful thinking on my part that they're able to work through contracts, etc. to become eligible for the all-time list.

The Toronto media will probably want to add Mats Sundin to the list

Regardless of what he does this coming season he's already played for both Quebec and Toronto so why would the Toronto media campaign to add Sundin to the list?

If so, the Toronto media is damn ignorant, and that has nothing to do with the game of Sundin...

I mean, they lost Wendel Clark at some point of his career, right?

G : Dryden
D : Lidstrom and Potvin
F : Joliat, Lemieux and Richard

The only debate possible is IMO between Dryden and Brodeur. Richard/Bossy ain't that far from each other, but they aren't exactly close either. I really have a problem with anybody ranking Clapper ahead of somebody in this list. Considering him superior to Lidstrom or Potvin is already far-fetched (IMO)... Considering like 9 years of Clapper with bad competition is better than any of Potvin and Lidstrom is pure indecency.
