Why does it matter if RNH plays in junior for 2 more years?

Are the Oil trying to win the cup in 2012 or 2013? No, they aren't.

But yes, I know they want size down the middle...but that doesn't mean you should pass on someone who could be more dynamic.

They might be more tempted to continue to take players that can be inserted immediately. I'm not saying they will...but NHL readiness is valuable when you're picking that high, especially when he fits the desired big center the Oilers may be looking for. The fact that he plays junior in Alberta is sort of a consolation for the "selling of hope" as fans can see him in Red Deer and all over western Canada while he stars at the WJC in Alberta.

I could see the Oilers drafting 1st anyways. I hope, at least.

ITS SVEN! Just because he's Swiss does NOT mean you can spell his name right. Jurco goes 1st round.

If I was Boston, I would try like hell to move up to get Larsson. Like ppl said they got the forward batch, and to be able to get someone like Larsson and have him on an rookie contract for 3 years would do wonders for them I think.

We do have the prospects and picks to maybe trade TOR's pick + maybe our first or a high prospect like Colborne to move up to that spot.

I wonder just how ready the Oilers would be to take a player that might remain in junior for 1 and possibly 2 more years. The Oilers have also said they want size down the middle.

Best player available. In terms of pure skill, the Nuge is probably the best player in the draft, and he is smart on the ice. His only weakness is his strength, but he could certainly beef up a bit in a year or two. Remember, Seguin was pretty small 6 months prior to the draft, and he put some weight on over the next few months, and has put some more weight on recently. If Edmonton wants a center, The Nuge is the best one to take.

In my opinion Buffalo NEEDS to go with a top line scorer no doubt.

Im figuring you used current standings so its not your fault.

yes, there's a big possibility that it could happen...he has all the tools to be a #1 guy

Yeah, i don't mind RNH at #2, or even at #1.

Hopkins is imo, the most dynamic player in the draft. Quick and agile, but he plays the game at multiple speeds as well. In addition to that, he just seems so calm and collect while on the ice. In addition, i think he is the only guy who really has the ability to consistently change a hockey game.

The Sutter family owns the Red Deer Rebels, and if that didn't give you a clear image of a trap team, know that they have the least goals against in the entire CHL with only 109 goals surrendered in 49 games. If you want a two-way center that can score, I take RNH over Couturier every time, even though Couturier plays the same game.
