AZ
3. Arizona
Anderson (4.75M/year)
Pageau (3.5M/year)
For
Bolland (LTIR 5.5M/year)

No thank you from Arizona.

Coyotes jettisoned a 35 year goalie to get younger, Raanta's been very good, better and significantly cheaper than Anderson.

Pageau's decent, but we have other (cheaper) options in house.

The only value this deal provides AZ is supporting the Coyotes to reach the cap floor....but there are many better alternatives.

Need to get rid of Anderson's contract extension, and that's 2 salaries off the books to re-sign Karlsson, Duchene, Brassard, and to a short-term-and-lower extension Methot

The Senators have $34.6 million in cap space for 2019-20 (without considering one or two cap increases by then) + $4.7 million LTIR for MacArthur (80% salary insured). Assuming Stone/Ceci/Wideman/Claesson are resigned for $13.0 million this summer, that's $26.3 million left.

They need to resign:

Karlsson (~$11.5 million)
Duchene (~$6.5 million)
Brassard (~$5.0 million)
Dzingle (~$2.0 million)
White (~$2.0 million)
2F (~$2.0 million)

Total = $29.0 million.

If Phaneuf or Ryan are moved by then - no problem.
If Phaneuf or Ryan are not moved by then - Brassard is not resigned.

There is no need whatsoever for Dorion to trade the Sen's starting goalie and a young, good value, defensive 3C, just to have the space to resign a 32-year old 50 pt centre in Brassard. Those are assets they would need to compete in the playoffs during Karlsson's prime.

If the Sens are full-on rebuilding, I doubt Karlsson sticks (in which case Sens have plently of cap space). Anderson might be moved in that scenario, but certainly not Pageau.

Ottawa is in a weird spot because its pretty likely that there unprotected 1st will belong to Colorado next year. Which means the team isn't going to tank next year as they would get nothing out of it. I think they try to turn things around with a new coach next year.

I think Hoffman is gone this deadline or at the draft to give cap space to a Stone extension. They should get a 1st, prospect, and roster player as compensation.

If they are out of it half way through the 2018/19 season and they are out of it they have no choice but to start trading off expiring contracts.

Duchene, Brassard, and Karlsson will all be traded away unless they want to sign an extension (which is doubtful if they spend two years at the bottom of the league). Best case scenario is to let teams talk to the players and work out an extension it would increase there value.

I don't think they'd have to rebuild for to long honestly. They have White, Brown, Chlapik, and Batherson who could end up being impact forwards in the NHL. Stone, Ryan, Smith, and Pageau will likely be kept around.

Chabot on the backend has loads of potential. Hopefully there first this year will be used on a defenceman. Phaneuf, Ceci, and Claesson kept around until prospects take there spots.

And if you include the returns from Hoffman, Karlsson, Brassard, and Duchene (all will bring good returns) Ottawa will have an overflow of youth.

not a OTT/WSH fan and don't follow either team as a whole that closely, was discussing TDL with a bud at work

what about this trade for the teams
Burakovsky/Grubauer/1st 2018/2019 conditional based on if Grubauer game started/numbers in OTT? likely can get outbidded by another team but just a thought from 2 arm chair GMs. if its not close forgive me lol!

Thanks
