He had a great season, he's only 30, he isn't overpaid or signed to a long-term contract that might handcuff a team.

Under normal circumstances he should have gotten more. That said, I think they were smart for "striking early". In a few weeks they could look like geniuses for not waiting. The market could be so tight in a few weeks THEY could have been the ones giving up a 3rd.

Getting him for a 3rd is a great deal though too even if it doesn't make sense for Montreal to have 14M in goal-tending.

Maybe Montreal intends on retaining some salary and getting a 2nd for him?

Seems a bit odd....unless there's something going on with Price they aren't telling anyone. (Surgery perhaps?)

OMG. This is about the Habs finding a back-up for Price. Our record for the back-up since Budaj left is horrible. Bergevin said he will make it a priority in the end of season press conference. Nothing wrong with Price

Not sure how this is puzzling to some folks. Allen was very solid for ST. L this year, and Price needs an adequate backup. Lindgren is not that, and Primeau is wasted in that role. Habs still have a ton of cap space which they will not use.

Good win-win trade for both teams. Habs improve their team by a not-insignificant amount and the Blues get capspace to bring back Pietrangelo (and maybe Dunn, too?). My guess is Bozak will be next, but who knows.

MTL has a need for back up, a lot of picks and the cap space, but that still feels a bit much considering that they are practically doing a huge favor for the Blues.
