Good luck Jake, I was always in your corner! Not every goalie can be a legit #1 but I think he took more heat from Blues fans than he deserved. He was surely our best goalie in the bubble and I think he's a dependable backup or 1B guy.

The 2018-19 Habs missed the playoffs by 3 points. Niemi played 17 games that season and had a 3.78 GAA and .887 SV%. It's safe to say with a legit backup that the Habs would have got 3 extra points. Obviously last year the Habs just sucked in general, but they got the same type of bad goaltending from Lindgren and Kinkaid.

A legit backup has been an issue for a while. I think with the new season we will see a lot more back-to-backs. Having a legitimate starter as a guy that can play 25 games is going to be important.

Interesting. Wonder how that affects the value of the rest of the goalies in the market. Allen had a pretty good season and playoffs and is really well suited to a 1A/1B situation
