The Habs want to win the Stanley Cup with Weber and Price still in their prime. They're doing pretty well offensively with 4 effective scoring lines. They'll also very likely be adding Suzuki at the end of the year, in time for the Playoffs. What they lack severely is on the left side of their defense. To me, this could be their "All-In" year.

:habs
- Keith
- Muzzin

:kings
- Mete
- Perlini
- 2nd 2019 CHI
- 2nd 2019 MTL

:hawks
- Alzner
- Poehling

FORWARDS

How exactly does this make any sense for Chicago?
A Chicago fan (same one who must have inspired the Schmaltz/Strome deal a few weeks ago) proposed "Poehling + Alzner for Keith + Perlini + Fortin" in a thread earlier today. Hab fans didn't think they got enough. Anyway, Fortin is changed to a 2nd and voila, there's your answer. Besides Poehling is pretty damn good and would be a great get for a rebuilding Chicago.

Kings don’t do that. Rather have Poehling, or a first, or Fleury rather than a bunch of meh.

Man habs fans are so bipolar.

Lets rebuild our team lacks talent everywhere, we’ll be patient.

Wins 3 games.

"Lets trade our farm for 2 aging players that might give you 2 years of hockey"

Why are the habs mediocre for years?
Oh wow, give away a prospect and an underachieving player for 2 solid defensemen to have a complete team to compete = trading the farm. Get real, Montreal's best prospects aren't even getting traded away (Fleury, Brook, Suzuki, etc). Besides, Montreal isn't going to bottom out anytime soon, not with Weber back in the fold and especially not if Price is fully back. I'd take a chance to maybe see the Habs go all the way.

This doesn’t make the Habs contenders, they would probably end up losing in the first round.
Thank you Nostradamus.

I'd like to see how teams will have an easy time scoring on Keith/Weber, Muzzin/Petry with Price (if back in top shape) in nets.

Oh man, now @Kevin Musto is being cited by other fanbases for what constitutes a proper trade offer.

Kevin, you’ve made it!

You’ve completed the meteoric rise from a fling-shit-at-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks guy to being barometer for what the Hawks are looking for in trade.

We are finally building a decent C depth and a younger team who is actually enjoyable to watch and not even after half a season over over performing you want to trade valuable assets for 35 year old declining dman and an decent 29 year old dman who showed a bit of regressing who will need an extension raise at 31 year old, if your point is that these 2 contract will look great alot Weber and Price’s contract, i give it to you. You are selling Mete short, you act like a 20 year old has top out, kid as showed alot of potentiel. He might not end up a bonafide top 2, but he will look hella great in a pairing with brook on the top 4 in a few years. As for poehling, we had a trade with RoR in the offseason, wich was much more of a need back then, it’s fair to say he’s a keeper. Targeting keith and muzzin might of made sense if we we’re a top contending team, doesn’t make sense when you’re likely not going to make the playoffs. Our division is way too strong, boston will clinch a wildcard spot once healthy and i would not sell the penguin short.

Keith has total NMC. Do you really think he going to leave his Chicago home to play in Montreal for four years?
And the premise that a junior, Suzuki, is a piece that is going to help in the playoffs. C'mon.
Montreal doesn't have the team this year to do any damage in the playoffs, or likely. not even make the playoffs. Keep building and don't trade for long term declining players. (didn't you learn from UFA Alzner)

Keith’s effort has been called out by multiple beat reporters, and it appears he’s sulking. So based on that, he may very well waive his NMC to get out of a last place team and have another shot at the playoffs.

All the more reasons to acquire this guy.

Hawks are not taking back Alzner. And giving up a high pick. No thanks.

Hawks pay a 2nd and Perlini for the chance to turn Keith in Karl Alzner.
