I think it depends on a few things:

Kruger's cap hit
The organizations trust in Danault filling in that role
Hartman's performance (seeing as he is the likely Shaw replacement)
And obviously, the performance of both Shaw and Kruger this year

All very true, I think Kruger will get 2 million for 3 years roughly but that's just a guess. As far as performance this year I think Kruger>>Shaw but Shaw definitely brings something Kruger doesn't. I just don't love Shaw as a center so if we can move him to wing I'd be more inclined to keep him.

I'd love if we could resign Kruger to 2mil for a few more years. It'd allow us to have a guy who we can depend on with faceoffs other than just Toews.

I'm hopeful that Danault and TT can eventually excel at the dot, but that could take a season or two.

Yeah I'd love to have Kruger back too.

Sharp Toews Kane
Saad Teravainen Hossa
Versteeg Shaw McNeill/Hartman
Nordstrom/Danault/Ross Kruger Smith
Carcillo/Regin

Might be in the minority but I'd rather trade Shaw than Kruger.

Shaws becoming pretty expendable. Toews, Teravainen, Kruger, Danault down the middle and McNeill, Ross, Hartman battle it out on the wing. All play that Shaw type game.

Pacioretty is already playing 1st LW

Sharp would have to play 1st C

Plekanec is Montreal center with the most ice time

weird trade and Sharp would reject

Q maybe, but Bowman has a track record of replacing our defensive forwards/PK specialists (see Bolland and Frolik) with cheaper alternatives.

They did have pretty high cap hits though.
If Kruger can get a reasonable deal, I would say there is no reason to trade him. I wouldn't mind him making 2m. He is a big part of this team.

They did.

I don't know if Kruger would consider 2 @ $2M to be a win, but it would be a big win for the Hawks. Kruger definitely understands that's very close to the limit if he wants to continue with the Hawks.

I would much rather keep Shaw, because I think Danault is closer to replacing Kruger than any other prospect is to replacing what Shaw brings. Maybe when Hartman is ready, you can deal a guy like Shaw.
