Early reports suggested that Reimer's stay in Carolina could be short.... Has there been any further noise about moving him?

If so, Colorado would be a good destination to send him, as they need a veteran No.3 and have the capspace to absorb Reimer's $3.4m for the next 2 years.

Conversely, Carolina has 6 picks in the first 3rd rounds next year and could use a couple of them to get rid of that contract.

With that in mind, does this sound reasonable?

Reimer + 2020 2rd + 2020 3rd <----> 2020 6th (or your choice of one of Barberio/Connauton/Graves)

Idea isn’t bad, but I think the management borg thinks they can make a reclamation project out of him like they did Mrazek. Maybe circle back on this if you guys are still interested during training camp.

There was a rumour elsewhere on the board that Reimer might be on his way to CBJ.
I think that was clarified that Forslund said “thinking out loud” before talking about that. So sounds more like he was speculating vs. an actual rumor. Unless you are referring to something else and if that’s the case, then never mind.

Not even remotely...why would we give up a 2nd + 3rd to dump Reimer? He'll be our backup to Mrazek and we have plenty of cap room. Last year was like his worst season and he still managed .900 SV%, if he can be close to career average for 20-30 games there's no reason to move him

I totally agree. Have him for a season and if he plays well, it'll be easy to move him for a mid-low pick.

Speaking of Larose, this is still my favourite quote.

"He's one of those guys that everybody likes to play with," coach Paul Maurice said. "He's excited about playing. He's going to go work his butt off, so he's going to make you look good. He gives you chances to score. He's going to compete and say a few funny things on the bench ... As we're moving the lines around, 'Guys, you're playing with Chad today,' (the reaction is), 'All right, I'm playing with Chad today - that's a good thing.'

This is the best UFA signing of the entire offseason across the entire NHL IMO. NYI pays 4 years x $5 million for Varlamov. Chicago pays $5 million x 1 year for Lehner. Yet the Canes lock down their ideal option to an ideal term (2 years) for almost half of what Lehner/Varlamov get.

Mrazek isn't even the highest paid goalie on the team next year. If there was any indicator that the braintrust is driving some hard bargains then it is this contract.

They handled the musical chairs of the goalie market quite well, knowing that outside of multiple wild card options like Chicago coming forward, they would have a good chance to get a one of the good goalies.
