How are our top prospects looking and where are they projected to slot into our lineup based on their current development path? Not expecting a detailed review here unless your name is montreal, just a "name - x line" or "name - top 9" is good enough. Thanks

1. Nikita Scherbak, RW, - 2nd Line RW, about 50 points.
2. Mike McCarron, RW/C, - 3rd line C, 30ish points, similar to Eller, but with more physicality.
3. Jacob De La Rose, C, - Third line C/W. 30 points, good on the cycle.
4. Charles Hudon, C/LW, - Superstar AHLr, fringe NHLr.
5. Noah Juulsen, D, - Top 4 D, too early to tell.
6. Jarred Tinordi, D, - Servicable number 5.
7. Sven Andrighetto, RW, - AHLr, full time. Few stints in the AHL, maybe with a poor team.
8. Zachary Fucale, G, - Starter somewhere, but not here. Top 30 goalie.
9. Martin Reway, LW, - Big numbers in europe, might come here one day and wow us with skills that never really translate.
10. Artturi Lehkonen, LW, bust.

I can't imagine any 4 of those not making it to the NHL...the rest are harder to gauge

Ummm what does this actually mean ?
4 guys playing games in NHL or 4 full time NHL'rs
I'm thinking three full time players in that group.

Baring injury, all these guys will have descent careers. The only one I'm not certain about is Scherbak, but it is too early to tell.

Reway depends on his life plans, but he could probably come straight to NA now, and get a look with the Habs.

From a total armchair perspective.

Nikita Scherbak
Mike McCarron
Jacob De La Rose
Noah Juulsen
Zachary Fucale

1. Nikita Scherbak, RW, - 1st line elite winger. (be patient)
2. Mike McCarron, RW/C, - 2nd line center kesler-type
3. Jacob De La Rose, C, - 4th liner/ahler
4. Charles Hudon, C/LW, - 3rd liner with maybe 2nd line upside.
5. Noah Juulsen, D, - Not seen a lot but not a fan, bottom pairing dman.
6. Jarred Tinordi, D, - Top 4 Dman but not likely with the habs.
7. Sven Andrighetto, RW, - 4th liner/Ahler D'agostini-type
8. Zachary Fucale, G, - NHL Starter
9. Martin Reway, LW, - Never seen him play but once...he looked good
10. Artturi Lehkonen, LW - Defensive Foward ala Ryan Carter (Minnesota)

That's my guess anyway.

1. Nikita Scherbak, RW, - Personally think he'll bust, but maybe 3rd line winger, Ala Burmistrov
2. Mike McCarron, RW/C, - 2nd line centre, ala Brian Boyle with an offensive twist.
3. Jacob De La Rose, C, - 4th line shutdown C, ala Kruger
4. Charles Hudon, C/LW, - 3rd line Two-way C, ala Cody Eakin
5. Noah Juulsen, D, - I see him as a #4, Ala Petry-lite
6. Jarred Tinordi, D, - #6 Shutdown D, ala Mark Stuart
7. Sven Andrighetto, RW, - Bust, ala D'Agostini (like the guy above me said)
8. Zachary Fucale, G, - NHL Starter, ala Corey Crawford
9. Martin Reway, LW, - Haven't seen him play before, but I'm guessing that from what I've seen he's probably not going to be coming over anytime soon...
10. Artturi Lehkonen, LW - Most underrated Habs prospect... Going bold here and saying 2LW, ala Marcus Johansson

I'm pretty average with my picks..

Upon seeing the evaluations made in this thread and reflecting upon our needs, I'd say any of these guys can be available if it's what it takes to get a legit top 6 player.

We already have plenty of middle-bottom 6 forwards, what we need is a definite top 6 guy. These guys have interesting potential, but that's what it will remain for many of them: potential. Given the right offer, any of these kids can go IMO.

Those I've seen play.

Scherbak 2nd liner with some bust potential.

McCarron surefire 3rd liner, used on the powerplay and PK specialist.

Hudon, a Gallagher like role. Can slot everywhere from the third line to some games on the first line.

Juulsen, I like everything about him, he has the same potential than Petry.

DLR, PK specialist, shutdown top lines, physical fourth line center. He will play on the third line but not on contenders.

Andrigettho, I see him in the same mold than this year Flash, fast third liner with a good shot. Same potential than Lekhonen.

Fucale, he's pretty much like Bernier, full of talent but will have a lot of struggle with consistency, he might overcome it, but i'm not a 100% sure.

Reway, our most gifted prospect, with the work ethic of S. Kostytsyn.

McCarron is not a typical middle 6er. Hell be the heart and soul of this team.he's 100% a keeper.

Nikita is the only other one I'd have a hard time to give away.

He might become that, be we don't know for sure if he will.

I'm not saying to dump these guys for anything we can get though.

But if we have the chance to get a proven top 6 and the price is McCarron, turning down that offer wouldn't necessarily be the best thing to do.

I will keep it short,

1. Nikita Scherbak - top 6 winger, top PP unit
2. Mike McCarron - Very solid Forward, PP and PK, will mean more to the Habs then any other team
3. Noah Juulsen - looks like he does most things well, top 4, PK yes, PP maybe depending on the roster
4. Charles Hudon - top 9 forward, not sold on him at center, PP yes PK likely
5. Jacob de la Rose- bottom 6 forward, could be at center, should be a great PKer
6. Martin Reway - very hard to guess, still not sure he comes over but if so a top 6 winger, 1st PP unit
7. Artturi Lehkonen - top 9 winger, PP yes PK maybe, needs to get stronger/faster
8. Magnus Nygren - top 4, a bit of a PP specialist, don't really think it will be with the Habs but some team will want that shot
9. Sven Andrighetto - top 9 winger, brings speed/energy with good shot not sure he will be a Hab. PP yes PK don't think so.
10. Zach Fucale - hard to say anywhere from NHL backup to solid starter. Needs to work on rebounds, glove, fill out his frame

Nice topic!

We tend to have unrealistic expectations for Montreal prospects. Take a look at the Top 10 Prospects from 2010. (Boldface highlights players who became contributors on the Canadiens.)

1. P.K. Subban, D
2. Danny Kristo, LW
3. Louis Leblanc, C
4. Yannick Weber, D
5. Aaron Palushaj, RW
6. Ben Maxwell, C
7. Joonas Nattinen, C
8. Ryan White, C
9. Mathieu Carle, D
10. David Fischer, D
11. Andreas Engqvist, C
…
18. David Desharnais, C
…
20. Alexei Yemelin, D

Interesting that two guys much lower in the 2010 rankings became valuable members of the 2015 team.

My tempered expectations for 2015 prospects:

1. Nikita Scherbak (RW) Second-line winger
2. Mike McCarron (RW/C) Waived
3. Jacob De La Rose (C) Third-line center
4. Charles Hudon (C/LW) Traded
5. Noah Juulsen (D) Traded
6. Jarred Tinordi (D) Waived
7. Sven Andrighetto (RW) Traded
8. Zachary Fucale (G) Traded
9. Martin Reway (LW) First-line winger
10. Artturi Lehkonen (LW) KHL/Europe
…
xx. Brett Lernout (D) Top 4 defenseman

Just not convinced that McCarron's talents will translate to the NHL. But I hope I'm wrong!

Going out a limb here. The still-raw Brett Lernout might well grow into the defender we had hoped Tinordi would become. And Reway looks like a "bust-or-boom" type of player—an NHL All-Star or a forgotten talent. Just saw the report that he's been discharged from Sparta Prague and is likely on his way to the KHL.

I've been having the same reflexion recently.

No wonder we're missing at least one top 6 player, 3 players out of 5 draft years (not including 13, 14 and 15 as it's still early to tell) is pretty poor, considering we had the luck of picking Galchenyuk 3rd OV

Where's George ''Bud'' Holloway on your list ? He's having a good start with the Ice Caps and he should be considered.

Although he's 27, he's like 1.2 PPG right now and could bring puck control and speed to any line with the habs in case of injuries.

Hudon will be a star.

Mccarron will be an impact player as well.

Scherbak boom or bust, haven't seen him do enough of the little things yet, but I'm not worried at all.

Juulsen looks like a stud top-4

DLR elite bottom 6er

Reway is a superstar no joke, if he ever humbles himself.
