Vanecek is without a doubt our #1.

His composure when called upon for a big save is something we haven’t seen in our goal since prime Schneider, and he rarely gives up stinkers.

Makes you wonder what the prime Schneider teams could have done if they could actually score goals. :help:
They need to ride Vanecek until the wheels fall off.

Well, I’m not saying to play him in back to backs, but he’s the number one here.

No more experimenting with the other guy getting games to get himself going. He’s too much of a liability. The decrepit no-count #29 will take us out of games more often than help.

I wonder if what Lindy meant in the post game of the last game before break by “We’ll talk about a schedule for our goalies, that’ll be the first thing we’ll talk about” meant Vitek gets every game until the next back to back, as long as he doesn’t get blown up too badly.

Does anyone know why they pens are so mad about the faceoff that led to the Hughes goal? I know the center was kicked out of the faceoff, and then the other forward went to the dot and didn't react when the official dropped the puck.

But he had his stick on the ice, and I thought that's the last thing a player did before taking a draw, like stepping into the batters box on in baseball. Am I missing something?

I thought they were mad about Tatar possibly interfering with their defenseman trying to get over to block the shot, but I haven't seen a great replay of it.

EDIT: It was Hischier, not Tatar

Referees were f***ing awful but gotta love somehow getting a bench minor in the same period as that disallowed goal where the referees again spotted the most marginal of contact on the ice by some miracle.

New Jersey(No Fanz!)
Probably the most bonkers reffed game youll see in awhile... Not a joke!

All that is true. All the big guns showed up. Jack PPG, Nico (SHG), Dougie with some daggers.

Sevs played half the game and vitek was streak vitek.

Bratt still looks like something happened. He is playing very oddly.
As far as the reffed game goes, even Dano was like "WTF?" (you know it's bad when Dano isn't doing his usual "Devils advocate" s--t)

And yeah...Bratt just hasn't been Bratt.

Yeah he got a measley 2nd assist but otherwise wasn't all that effective.

Hopefully, like the Devils winning, he can get back on a point streak again.....

It's kind of weird for me, as I'm one of the straightest people there are at this point in my life. Smoked weed a few times at 14 and drank a few times as a teen and HEAVILY for a 4-5 month period when I was badly depressed at 26-27, which I'm happy to say I've not had a drop of the stuff in just about 20 years.

But unfortunately, I have too much experience with friends and drug abuse. My best friend is a very functioning and low key alcoholic and one of my other dear friends, who I love to death is badly addicted to fentanyl/opiates and uses it every day and I'm always fearing that I'm gonna get the call that something happened to her.

An ex of mine relapsed on the stuff and OD'd and died (someone had narcan and brought her back) and it's just ugly stuff.

It really strikes a nerve with me.

My only drug is food basically, which I've got in check now!
That’s pretty brutal stuff.

I worry a lot about my friend when I’m up at night and can’t sleep. She lives back in Jersey, so I don’t see her much anymore. But she helped me and we’d talk every day after all the BS I went through in 2020-2021.

There’s a lot of things I’d like to say to her, but just won’t.

I hope I don’t lose her or get a call one day.

Yes. Chemical dependency is a time bomb. Hopefully your friend can overcome it but it isn’t easy.

Sorry about your friend Bleed. Definitely glad you’re all good though, love having you around and my experience here wouldn’t be the same if you weren’t around, that’s for sure! Happy New Year in advance! :newyear:

Yup. With that particular stuff it’s basically you either stop using it or you die before you stop. With some exceptions in between that somehow can sustain using that type of drug and living, which must be a small percentage.

Worst part is she goes to the clinic 5-6 days a week, but still uses daily.

It’s all good but thanks. Somehow, I think we all can relate to having someone in our lives that is going through something like that or ill to some extent. Whether it’s serious or possibly terminal illness or substance abuse. Or maybe it’s gambling or eating disorders? Or some kind of untreated mental illness that’s reduced their quality of living or potentially destroyed it.

And the feelings are definitely mutual. I definitely enjoy being here and my interactions with almost everyone. Even the weird “Shane Doan is better than Patrik Elias” stuff has given me about over 10 years of laughs now.

And it’s my only real “social media” outlet. If this actually counts as social media. It’s much more fun than scrolling through pictures of what someone I went to school with but haven’t spoken to in close to 30 years is having for lunch today.

And happy new year to you and everyone else.

At least we know for sure the Devils will not lose again in 2022! That’s a guarantee.
