Cannot wait to see what the kid can do on Marlies team :handclap:

http://blog.mapleleafs.com/two-whl-honours-for-rielly/

Maple Leafs 2012 first round pick Morgan Rielly was named the WHL Eastern Conference Defenceman Of The Year and he was named to the WHL Eastern Conference First All-Star team on Wednesday.

Rielly finished his third WHL season with 54 points (12 goals, 42 assists) in 60 games. While Rielly’s season with the Moose Jaw Warriors has come to an end, he will be joining the Toronto Marlies this week to get his feet wet in the pro game.

The offensive blueliner also played for Team Canada at the World Junior Championships where he had three points in six games with a plus 2 rating

That's great news. I've never seen him play aside from highlights online. Looking forward to getting out to a few Marlies games.

Any shot at WHL defenseman of the year? has it been announced yet? I'd assume it would be him versus whoever the West defenceman of the year is.

Such a fun player to watch. I can only imagine how exciting a Rielly/Gardiner pairing on the powerplay would be

I saw this yesterday and congrats to him. I have a hunch that Seth Jones will be the West player of the year.

I'm hearing the favourite is Brenden Kichton, he of 85 points in 71 games, which totally blows Rielly and Jones out of the water.

Portland scored almost double the amount of goals Moosejaw did. Rielly on that team would most likely see the same or better results for him. Rielly's % of team points scored is higher actually.

Kichton isn't even drafted is he? For some reason i think he isn't!

NY Islanders, so...no.
