Ellis is definitely an interesting dman prospect. Find he has an all around game but doesn't really excel at anything; seems better defensively than offensively though. He has a lot of competition with the Habs D prospects coming up though.

Only 2 yrs ago he was considered one of our top prospects and an almost sure NHL defenseman in the future. I think we overrated his potential but I definitely thing that he's still a good prospect.

His upside isnt very high but on another side his chances to make the NHL as a 5th-6th defensive defenseman are pretty good, will need to imporve his first steps and work on his passing, transition, but at the end, he has the charactere to make the NHL IMO.. Im expecting another 2 years in the AHL for Ellis..

I saw a couple of games that were streamed on atdhe.eu/ and firstrow1.eu/ and he didn't look out of place. Also, he was very consitent with the puck with a nice first pass.

I don't know if he can adapt himself for the NHL but I was pretty high on him and Gallagher who was drafted right after him. Plus, he has a nice frame which can be very useful. I still don't understand why we signed Davis Drewiske when we had a certain Morgan Ellis ready to step up.

My one concern with Ellis is his skating. If he can just get it up to a solid level he could be a great 2nd pairing guy.

I think he needs to work on his strength a little, some of his reads, and a little bit of an edge would help too, but overall, I liked what I saw, in the games I saw.

hey guys great article on Morgan Ellis , good to see he is working hard. Im really rooting for him this year to make the team.:handclap:

I think most scenarios that see Morgan Ellis playing significant time for the Montreal Canadiens next year end in a lot of doom and gloom. Nothing against Ellis, I like the kid, but he's just not ready yet. We're also likely seeing Tinordi up for full time duty, so unless a rash of injuries or trades happen (selling at the TDL), I don't see him suiting up very often, if at all.

I think he'll get a few games next year. As we saw last year, MB appears to like to let the kids get a whiff of the show mid-season.

I don't think that was planned at all, I think it was more of an experiment that the team could afford while they were comfortably sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference. I doubt if Montreal was in 8th or 9th place at the time that Pateryn, Beaulieu and Tinordi would have been given those games to see how they react to the NHL level.

Hope to see him get quicker, work on his skating. I thought he really struggled in Hamilton at times but hopefully now that he has a fulll year under his belt he'll get back on track.

I always liked Elllis. Now, I'm probably wrong but I already stated that I saw him being better than Tinordi in the future. Heh, I can make mistakes too!

Still love the player, wether he makes the NHL or not is about if he can get quicker... He's something we need, hopefully he makes it.

When I googled Morgan Ellis two years ago, used to get links to Morgan Ellis, the Toronto escort. :shakehead

Googling him now, he's getting all of the early listings. His emergence has brought on collateral benefits.

I hope I'm right as my reasoning would be justifiable.

An "experiment" would not be worth it, we barely finished 2nd, and nearly finished 4th.

He will play a couple of games next year with the Big Club. i saw him play here in Shawinigan. I am pretty sure he is going to be exacly like Gorges but bigger. You need guys like that in your team.

Not one of our marquee prospects, although he is good, gives him time to develop in Hamilton. Like other have said.. I think he will be a good bottom pairing guy.

He was horrible last season. It's following the trend management set with Leblanc... One good practice or preseason game won't erase 1 year of sucking. If it's good for one, it's good for the other.

He was not horrible last season. He just had a slow adjustment period. He's not the type of prospect who is going to just have an accentuated learning curve. You'll see some progress this season and next year will be when we start seeing signs of a great/steady bottom pairing D-man.

He was not horrible. He will need another year in AHL. He will be NHL material next year or the year after. Defenseman can take many years to develop. What we are seeing with Tinordi and Beaulieu is out of the normal. Its not because he will take longer to pan out that he is behind the curve.

He is in the same mold as Gorges. I saw him in the Q and he was he best Defensive D i have ever seen there (he was better than Gormley at the end of the season and during the memorial cup)
