Saying Leafs players are overrated which a lot of people do on here and than saying they want Matthews and Marner to sign offer sheets to screw them over is hypocritical.

It's more like putting the money where your mouth is
Leads fans want to act like their counter parts are always better

Well where then, pay the most for the players since their better. Just going by leafs fans logic

No matter what Matthews and Marner end up re-signing for my feeling is if you hate the Leafs those people will say they are overpaid. However if they signed those same contracts via an offer sheet those same people would be happy and claim they deserve whatever they get.

Marner has 23 more points halfway through the season, and is on pace to finish with ~48 more points. That makes him a good pick in a poll asking which player will finish with more points this year. Since you base your decisions on which player doesn't play for the Leafs, I can understand this going over your head though
Well, as your fanbase loves to do so well, he isn’t there yet. That’s just pace. Until he does get it, he’s no more then a 69 point player playing with a former Hart Candidate in Tavares

Nothing at all to do with former Hart Candicate John Tavares of course...
Watch the games. Marner is the line driver, of course he benefits from playing with Tavares, but he still has 23 more points than Laine who also plays on a stacked team. Unfortunately his coach doesn’t see enough effort from him to play him against better competition, so he shelters Laine and gives him prime PP minutes because he can shoot the puck, own net included.

I always love the "product of Tavares" arguments when posters don't think about the other 3 linemates. Laine has significantly better linemates than Marner across the spectrum of QoT stats

also, watch a few Leaf games, Marner is the offense driver of that line, Tavares is a more efficient finisher than what Marner has had before but he has more tap ins to empty nets from Marner passes this year than goals that others wouldn't have scored

he is 23 real points ahead of Laine halfway through the season. he doesn't have to actually outscore him by 50 to be the smart bet here. Also you're mixing seasons up, as he didn't play with Tavares last year.
