Meant to post this earlier. From the Boston Globe:
Can’t let the weekend pass without paying tribute to good pal Red Fisher, the legendary Montreal scribe who died Friday at age 91. A unique voice and a unique character, Fisher chronicled Les Glorieux for nearly 60 years, his love of the game and the people who make it great woven into every paragraph. By the way, if you treasure fine writing, make sure to read Michael Farber’s superb tribute to Fisher in the Montreal Gazette.
Prior to Saturday’s faceoff, there was a moment of silence held for Fisher at the Bell Center. Earlier, media wags lifted shots of Chivas, Red’s favorite, in the seventh-floor press room, where he continued to hold court pregame even after retiring in his mid-80s. The Bruins, in the days when Nate Greenberg ran their public relations department, stored a bottle of Chivas in the press room that made its way out of the cabinet only when Fisher was in town with the Habs.
He loved what he did. The game, and all the people around it, loved him back.
