I can't really blame Gainey for going for the cup that year, what I remember the most of the 2008 summer was the whole Sundin drama. In the end it never happened.

He made some serious moves that summer by acquiring Tanguay and signing Lang. We had such a great team and had a great start. I think we were first up until mid December when everything started to fell apart when Kovalev and Lang got injured.

Well im not sure about lightning striking twice. If both DD and MT were simply let go adrift into the blue sea that would be like winning the lottery.
Sad that my whole year as a fan comes down to the hope that all we do is fire two guys.
