We have such great C depth that we have three centerman on our 2nd line.
To be honest Lars is not really a natural centerman. He has all the quality to be en effective 2nd line winger and none of the quality you are looking for a center other than a defensive one.
Yes he is great on the faceoffs and on the pk but so is many other players in the league. It's not really that hard to find. He has no hockey IQ and is bad at feeding his wingers. He doesn't produce enough to be an outstanding 3rd line center.
On the other side he is a guy who could score over 20 goals with more ice time. He scored 16 in 2011-2012 and 12 last year despite not playing on the PP and not playing with offensive quality players. I can definitely see him scoring 20 goals on a 2nd line with guys like Plekanec and Galchenyuk. He is a puck possession monster and is good along the boards both quality you are looking at when it comes to wingers. From what i can recall he scores most of his goals from the RW position.
I think the reason why it worked so well when he played with Galchenyuk is because Galchenyuk is a winger playing like a center. Galchenyuk carried the puck and fed Eller and Gallagher. Eller did not have to create anything on that line.
I know he doesn't want to play wings but if he wants to become a 2nd line players i think he should start thinking about it. But he needs the confidence of his coach. Every time Therrien did put him on the wings it lasted for 2-3 games only. Lars would need a good 20 games to get sued to it and see if he likes it.
