No Nutella, bust.
Nutella is garbage. It's what Italy sells to the gullible, wordwide masses:

It's actually "spreadable candy": How much sugar is in Nutella? Canadian doctor decodes what’s in the hazelnut spread | Globalnews.ca

If Monahan had used this spread instead, which is far superior, now we'd be talking:

+ Misa in 2025 with the Calgary pick... They have like 6 key roster players hitting the free agency. :naughty:
They have some good prospects tho, like Zary and Pelletier among others that should be ready by then to carry the load. I don't expect a lottery pick with their pick, but crazier things have happened (namely the sharks pick to ottawa in 2020)

Yep, 2025 is totally unprotected if we get there.

This is actually not true. There's a million conditions involved, and top-10 is pretty well protected and 1st overall is protected no matter what.

I bolded the best case scenario below

Scenario: In the event CGY receives FLA’s 2025 1st round pick:
1. If both CGY AND FLA’s picks are NOT top 10, MTL will receive the better of the CGY and FLA 2025 1st round picks.

2. If CGY’s pick is top 10, AND FLA’s pick is NOT top 10, MTL receives FLA’s pick.

Scenario: In the event CGY does NOT receive FLA’s 1st round pick:

Sub-scenario: CGY’s pick is NOT top 10
1. MTL will receive the CGY pick, and
2. If FLA’s pick is not top 10, is a better pick than CGY’s, and was transferred to another team due to prior conditions, MTL will also receive CGY’s 2025 4th round pick.

Sub-scenario: CGY’s pick is top 10:
1. If CGY’s pick is 1st overall, MTL will receive CGY’s 2025 3rd, and the better of CGY and FLA’s 2026 1st round pick.
2. If CGY’s pick is 2nd to 10th, MTL receives CGY’s 2025 1st round pick.

Thx for clarifying, we still could draft a franchise player at 2 though.

I don't think a pick have ever been protected no matter what. There's always a point where the pick wont be protected anymore. This said the condition make it so that it's almost 100% certain to be a late pick.

Neither one are anything special. Zary could be a dud.

You should reread what you posted. "If CGY’s pick is 1st overall, MTL will receive CGY’s 2025 3rd, and the better of CGY and FLA’s 2026 1st round pick". I don't see any condition on "the better of CGY and FLA’s 2026 1st round pick". It would need to be the worst but then i don't think KH would have done it. There's no point letting the other team protect the pick just to to get an awful pick 4 years later. It's pretty much never ever done.

How so we get a top 10 pick in 2025?
Calgary gets a top 10 pick in the next 3 years and Florida gets a top 10 pick in 2025?

That seems unlikely.
I think we have the option to pass every year till 2025 if we dont like the position of the pick, but Ill stop here, dont want to throw misinformation out there.

I think the years start in 2024 that we have the option.

That's a pretty good deal. Flames and Panthers may not be good in 2025, depending on how things play out. Calgary really didn't want to sink big in the standings, so had to make cap space to replace Gaudreau with Kadri.

Take your own advice ;)

I responded to a post talking about getting Michael Misa 1st overall in 2025. The 2025 1st overall is protected no matter what.
