He might, he might not. Very few people projected guys like Erne and Zykov to go in the 2nd round last year, but they did.

I heard someone say that there were about 40 players with first round talent last year and about 20 with first round talent this year. Sorry, can't remember who. But it's well known that last year was much deeper, so 1st round talents were bound to slip. I don't think that will happen this year.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: Reinhart is going to go 1st overall, much like McKinnon did last year.

Everyone was convinced that Colorado needed D, and Seth Jones was constantly ranked 1st in the majority of mock drafts, up until the month of the draft.

The argument goes that Florida needs D because they're stacked at center, except Reinhart has played wing for team Canada, so it isn't far-fetched that he can do that in the NHL.

I want and hope that I'm wrong, because I think Reinhart is the best player in this draft and would be a great player to build around.

I was thinking this as well but i think the Panthers either trade out and the team trading up takes Ekblad or they keep the selection and go Ekblad. There current d is poor and Ekblad would step right in and be an impact, after all that is what you draft. I also think Seth Jones had some question marks and Ekblad is better overall and more polished.

I wanted to argue that Florida already has Huberdeau, Barkov, Bjugstad etc. at center as an argument against them taking Reinhart, but your Avs example makes me hesitate.

However I think it's more realistic that a team would pass on him to take Ekblad than a team passing on Mackinnon for Jones last year. Mackinnon was and is viewed as a bonafide #1 franchise center with superstar potential. You just can't pass that up even for a franchise type defenseman like Jones. Reinhart isn't that type of prospect IMO. That's not a knock on Reinhart because I think he's an excellent prospect and want to draft him, but when I read stuff about him I can't help but compare him to Bergeron. Which is obviously a great thing, but there are some people who compare Ekblad to Shea Weber.

I don't think it's a stretch to think that a team could believe that Ekblad can/will become the next Weber and would prefer him over Reinhart, even if they believe Samson will be a Bergeron type player. I bet you'd find an interesting split if you gave teams the choice between Weber and Bergeron. I'm not trying to start a debate about player types or anything, all I'm saying is I can easily see Ekblad being picked over Reinhart.

I really think Florida is choosing between Ekblad and Bennett if they stay at 1. Just off of their recent interviews

A Daughty-Daugherty pairing

Ok, didn't think that at all - defensive pairing with Doughty - last names almost spelled/sound the same.
Thought maybe he was related to someone on the Kings or used to be from Los Angeles.
(Just looked him up - nothing on the related part from what I could find and hes from the state of Michigan-lived there all his life.)

I thought it had something to do with actor Josh Daugherty.

If you were Florida and you were going to trade down with a team ike Vncouver, Nashville, Tornto?? What would you ask for in return?

I always got the vibe those were their two guys. Bennett makes sense for them because -- for the sake of argument, assume they're equal players -- Bennett complements Barkov better than Reinhart imo. He could also be a speedy winger for Barkov or Bjugstad if that's how they wanna roll.

Tanev, Gaunce, 2014 1st, 2015 1st
Josi,Scissons,2014 1st,2015 1st
Reilly, 2014 1st, 2015 2nd

You want it Overpay for it, Florida is in a unique spot, they are not terrible and are going to be introducing younger players into bigger roles this year. There big need is a top 4 dman, which is why each proposal has one in it.

I agree with you Florida may go forward, but unfortunately it won't be Reinhart.
