Really, i think it's either Connor the kid next door really, or Zacha to NJD. Unless Crouse slides maybe. Went with Connor here for max ***Wildcard Points. But i could really see it going either way. Throwin' grenades in the dark basically.

Barzal just makes too much sense, the fans there would like that too much. It's not a very "Devils Pick" really. And honestly, i think there are lot more concerns about Barzal's game at the NHL level than this hometown-ish forum generally give credit.

Ya, I think that's the best part of the draft, namely watching a team go "off the board" and grab someone that is ranked later or that you don't want your team to pick, which pushes more of "your picks" down the draft order. Both last year (watching guys like Fabbri, Barbashev, Scherbak, and yes, even McCann get passed on for guys like Schmaltz and Sanheim) and in 2013 (watching Shinkaruk inch closer and closer to our spot, as Toronto stepped up and took Gauthier, then Calgary passed on what seemed like a slam dunk to take Poirier).

Of course hindsight shows some of those "reaches" were probably good moves (Poirier) but at the time it is quite thrilling

Ya i amended that in the OP so that you can only designate players as WC picks if you have them 5+ picks away from where there are on Mackenzie's final ranking (see OP for link). It's not a perfect solution but it keeps 'slam dunks' from being designated for the extra points.
