And that concludes the Buffalo Sabres 2013 draft. And though I may be somewhat biased on this :sarcasm: I'm very pleased with the results. Size, grit, speed, skill, and character were all added, and some in spades. Monahan at 7 was a great start, grabbing Hurley (thanks rey ;) ) in round 2, Hill slipping till the 3rd, 2 solid d-men, one offensive, one defensive in Mason and Michael in the 5th. And late round grabs of Henriksson and Bowles, I would be very pleased with the Sabres if they came out with something like this. Add to the fact they added an extra 1st and 2nd in this draft, and the potential for the Sabres to hit nicely in the draft this year is very high.

This concludes Phoenix's draft....

1. (R1-5th) - Elias Lindholm (F)
2. (R3-69th) - JC Lipon (F)
3. (R5-129th) - Quentin Shore (F)
4. (R6-159th) - Brent Pedersen (F)
5. (R7-189th) - Chris Clapperton (F)

Quite an odd draft for Phoenix. Only made five selections and used all of them to draft forwards, three of which are over-agers for this draft. Really wanted to both maximize value and address organizational short-comings. These forwards are expected to contribute a little sooner and can really help fill holes from top to bottom on the organizational depth chart. Strange draft, but one I'd be happy to hang my hat on.

looks like a pretty good draft for the Sabres, though i am only familiar with the first 4 picks.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are proud to select, from the Saginaw Spirit, Dalton Young! (D) A fluid skater, Young has good hands and good understanding of both offense and defensive and his role in each (he's greatly improved in that regard). Not afraid to throw his weight around and drop the gloves, he's an overall solid player with a pretty big upside.
