If this thing stays open through early next week, I'll contribute. Don't anticipate being on this forum much over the holiday weekend.

Is anyone planning on doing any assassinations?

It would be nice if a few people who aren’t in the draft would do some. It’s always nice to see impartial non-GM’s give their opinions.

Sounds like TDMM would and I would if others participated.

If we have others participating I will absolutely try and set some time aside to do a few. If the participation just isn’t there I’d say let’s move on with the voting.

Here’s hoping we actually have voting turnout..

Even if we open voting I hope to get around to each team with some comments

To get the juices flowing a quick self-assassination

Forwards

First line works conceptually, Tavares a shoot first center with passable all around game with Demtria a good passing first defensive winger. Bellows is there to crash and bang and dig out the puck. It's a classic ATD line where you divide up different tasks among each player.

Second line, Seguin has a strong VsX 7 year and passable voting records but is he really that much better than other second line centers who provide more all around? Seguin is pretty balanced offensively so Whitney is paired with him much like Demitra with Tavares....except neither of them are particularly good defensively or physical so all glue guy tasks are left to O'Reilly which is definitely not ideal...

Third line, what a beautiful mess I created. Koivu is a good enough 2way center and is paired a usual perennial ATD player in Adams who is willing to fight and get dirty in the corners and a one way offensive superstar in Cloutier. Cloutier is probably my best offensive winger and could some damage if the matchups work out, but this line is poised with Koivu to "shutdown" and might struggle doing so.

Fourth line, shadow line players fit the needs of the team

Defense

Top pairing, two minute munchers who can move the puck unsure of the talent level relative to others but stylistically makes sense

Second pairing, see above Lake strikes me as undervalued but I didn't really find the time to give him the bio treatment he deserves

Third pairing, Bobby Orr's old partner will protect my team from the downsides of Mike Green

Goalie, a great money goalie and a great regular season guy. I'd expect our coach to platoon them similar to the Islanders dynasty

My biggest question with your team @tony d is where is the offence going to come from? Your wingers strike me as weak on offence compared to other teams. 5 of your six top 6 players don't make HO summary VsX charts.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I just don't feel like Bobrovsky is an all time great goalie. But that might just be recency bias

He was a regular on both the power play and penalty kill units, thanks to his speed.; Ultimate Hockey said: "Tough, chippy little center; maddening guy to play against; tricky; superb acceleration, was a nifty stick-handler, and had a star quality shot. Swedish national team's leading defenseman in the late 1960s and early 1970s because of his excellent skating skills and persistent training. His talent for choosing the right position, combined with effective bodychecking, made him a virtually impenetrable force to opposing forwards. Sorry I didn’t have time for assassinations. Been a busy week and if I was going to provide analysis I didn’t want to half ass it.

I sent my votes for regular season standings to @Johnny Engine. Good luck everyone!

I have all but one set of votes, and no outside votes.
If it's alright with everyone, I'll tally them up breakfast time tomorrow.
