Even on a night when Strasburg clearly has his A+ stuff, we still eek out a win.

This team is unreal

you could say they're Amazin'

They aren't trading Harvey.

Eventually they'll have to trade one of the starters. Wilpons won't pay huge dollars to Harvey and deGrom and also pay raises to Wheeler, Matz and Syndergaard. Unless the family's fortunes turn significantly, they won't be able to afford to keep the rotation intact.

Trout won roy in 12, came in 2nd in mvp voting 12-13 and won the mvp in '14 when he was 22 (well just turned 23 near the end of the season). Harper has only played at that level this season. We'll see if he stays there. If he does I don't know if I see the Yanks paying the kind of money Boras will be asking for.

Oh and 14 months isn't a year and a half. ;)

The only guys who have earned a big contract are degrom and harvey who isn't a FA until 2019. I wouldn't worry about the other contracts yet.

Mike Trout says hi. What's funny is he could have been a yankee.

Yeah, and we could've had Jose Fernandez. He was taken a pick later than us. We chose to take a guy who profiles right now as 4th OF in the big leagues.

Do we really need to play this game?

I think the Mets should try to lock up Syndergaard to an extension. A year from now, he might be worth a 200M+ for his next contract.

I think you have to save money for Noah. He's by far the youngest member of the rotation, and was absolutely lights out before his recent skid. The guy has all the potential in the world and just needs some seasoning (especially with a great pitching coach like Warthen) before he erupts as a franchise cornerstone.

If i'm the Mets, I lock up Jacob and Noah, let Matz and Wheels fight out who deserves the third/fourth big contracts, and trade Harvey in a year or two for a king's ransom.

I think you extend Cespedes and trade Harvey. Problem solved. Recoup assets for Harvey.

I'd keep all the one's that don't cause problems. Your team plays in New York. Money should not be an excuse for keeping your best players.

Mets bullpen is going to be brutal tonight. Clippard and Familia unavailable and Robles traveled back to the Dominican due to a death in the family. Alvarez, Gilmartin, Goeddel, O'Flaherty, Parnell, Reed, and Stauffer are the available guys tonight. Left Verrett out since he's pitching Monday and Torres is hurt obviously.

Oh wow, thats a terrible bullpen. Reed 9th, Gilmartin 8th, Goeddel 7th. If you need to go to the pen for a lefty specialist, Alvarez. If you need someone before the 7th, Stauffer. There's not much quality in that pen though.

yup.

suddenly, of all the arms, he's the one i move first. can't keep em all.

i still think wheeler, if he comes back healthy, is gonna be another #1 guy. he's 95-96 all day and all the pitches.

move harvey, get back a big time prospect or 2, and give the entire pile of cash to cespedes who's shown me he's a legit weapon.

I think they can really make a killing with a Harvey trade. Look what Sandy got for Dickey...

The difference is that the Yanks wanted to draft Trout but the Angels got the pick from the Texeira signing.

Syndergaard won't be a free agent until 2021. I'm not in a rush to sign him to a long term deal at this point unless it's very team friendly.

Problem with Wheeler is that he's not a FA until 2020 so he's going to have the same issues as Harvey. He'll just know not to make public comments.

I just don't get the desire to trade Harvey.

Because, he's a Yankees fan and/or it's about the money. Either way, he doesn't want to be a Met.

Badler really likes this Desmond Lindsay kid that we drafted in the second round. He seems to be impressing scouts a lot. We've made a lot of very average picks during the Alderson regime. It'd be nice to pick a 5 tool future star in the second round.
