Agreed. One thing about Pete Rose though. As you can see above, he's down in a very poopy place, almost outside the top 1,000. If he retired today and never bet on baseball, it would be very difficult for a 1B/3B/OF with a .409 SLG% to get in the HoF. Literally all he did at the plate was hit singles, not even doubles.

Yeah, he's probably a bit overrated.

But he does have the most hits all-time and an 80 WAR.

Is Pete Rose a compiler? Yes, but historically, compilers get into the Hall of Fame.

If you're #1 all time in a major statistical category, you should be in the hall.

Writers liked Ortiz. They did not like Arod, Bonds, etc. Rose in some ways was his own worst enemy.

Agreed. If Cabrera had only DHed his bWAR would be tied with Appling and Yount. 77.4 oWAr, -21.4 dWAR. It's not a simple addition and subtraction formula though because his bWAR is 67.1. Great hitter, poopy fielder.

He had a shit start to the 2022 season too and then he went on to hit 62 homers so a bad 4 games means really dick.

Yankees need to get more length out of their starters. Love that the pen is picking up the slack so far but you can't rely on them this heavily. One thing the FO has been great at is picking guys up who are no bodies for bad teams and turning them into meaningful (if not significant) bull pen contributors.

No one could have told you who Ian Hamilton was before last year. I'm sure most fans wouldn't be able to pick him out of a group of 4 now. Yet here he is getting used in high leverage situations and recording outs in multiple inning outings.

I have no doubt they'll promote some AAA starter who would be a fringe starter at this level at some point this year and he'll become an impeccable reliever.


Any further adds they make this year need to be SP's. I don't trust anyone currently in the rotation who is healthy and who knows what they get out of Cole this year.

There’s a metric ton to be concerned about with the team.

The wins were all bullpen heavy. Starters HAVE to give them six+ going forward else the team is headed for a repeat of last year.

We BELIEVE Rizzo, Torres, Judge and Stanton will hit. But who knows. It’s possible Riz and Stanton are straight up cooked. Judge better get his shit together PRONTO. I’m tired of ‘oblique this, core that.’ Learn the difference between injured and hurt. Probably half the league is the latter at any given time.

I could do without all the damn double plays. Shit has got to stop.

They might get swept in Arizona. Would not surprise me in the least.

The Rangers mentally broke the Astros coming back from 3-0 down in last year’s ALCS. Yanks simply pounded a few more nails in coffin.

If you’re worried about Judge I can tell you that there are other things that you should spend your time worrying about.

He will be fine.

I’m almost ready to check out too. Part of it how unrecognizable the game is today. No DH, pitch clocks, hit clocks, shift bans, three batter minimums, slide rules, block rules, pitchcoms and whatever else. I can’t keep up. I love baseball because it’s analog and old timey. MLB is not that. Maybe I’m just grumpy because the Mets are already LOLMetsing three days in.

Yesterday was the first time I thought that maybe just maybe trading Alonso is the right move.

Also, Lindor is NOT a leader, or at least not the type of leader a team can depend on to break it out of a malaise. He’s the type of guy that puts up numbers, ‘leads on the field’, but that’s where it ends. I used to follow the Guardians and this was the knock on him pretty much his entire career in Cleveland. He wanted the money, wanted the ‘C’ on his uni but did not appreciate all the extracurricular work that entails. Pete would be better suited to that role but I don’t think that’s his M.O. either.

They have a massive leadership void which is why I was surprised that Stearns effectively shitcanned Buck at the end of last season. The last thing I would do with this Mets team is put a rookie manager in charge; sorta reminds me of when the Rangers installed Quinn with that veteran roster. Bad fit all around, although I do believe that Mendoza will one day be a good to great bench boss. I just don't think it happens within his early Mets tenure until they change the makeup of the roster. It's the main reason why I think Soto is a pipe dream; they need to really gut the team and start over because now they're treading water toward mediocrity.

He will, will he? I don't believe that for a second....at least in his and the team's mind. The Yankees are so paranoid when it comes to injuries that they'll pull guys from the lineup and IL them for so much as a scratch, citing 'precautionary reasons'. You can easily load manage your way right out of the playoffs if you're not careful.
