So I brought up Appleyard's Kopitar point about +/- on the Facebook group. Crickets.

However, I did say "I want to know what these stats mean" in reference to what I posted, to which someone replied "usually you get a - when you're on the ice for a goal against."

Oh

You'll end up in an asylum if you keep reading Facebook posts about the Flyers.

Weird, basically no one talks about the Flyers on my FB. Probably because I don't even have certain Flyers/sports oriented pages on FB liked. Hell, the most vocal person is probably a Phillies/Eagles guy and the other is a Pittsburgh fan through and through.

I remember sometimes checking a Flyers FB page back around 2010 before I found HF. That place was terrible. All kinds of troll posts from fans of other teams and what not.

Anyone remember Ed Webb? He had to be one of the biggest trolls on the Flyers page I have ever seen. Big fat old guy who looks like he's restricted to a chair. Wonder if he's even still alive...

My Kopitar post with Appleyard's info garnered the response of "The Kings were terrible when he was a -, they hired Sutter and now he's good."

That's why Kopitar is a plus player now. But the same logic doesn't apply to why Giroux isn't a +91

Stamkos probably should not be in the NHL then... -1 over his career.

JVR: -4.
E. Kane: -9.
O'Reilly: -11.
Hall: -25.
Eberle: -25.
Doan: -27.
Nash: -42.
E. Staal: -43.
Tavares: -44.
Kessel: -44.
Okposo: -49.

Bums... all of them.

Giroux is +21.

2013-14: Giroux on ice for 118 Goals for. 3rd amongst forwards in NHL. On ice for 75 against.
2012-13: Giroux on ice for 68 Goals for. 9th amongst forwards in NHL. On ice for 50 against.
2011-12: Giroux on ice for 110 Goals for. 7th amongst forwards in NHL. On ice for 80 against.

So in the last 3 years:

On ice for 296 goals for. On ice for 205 against.

Dupuis just took a puck to the back of the neck while he was down on the ice. ImmobilIzed and carried off on a stretcher. Looked like he was in a lot of distress. You could see him moving his fingers around while he was on the ice on his back. Pretty scary, hope he's ok.

Gosh I wish we would have traded for Burns... I remember we were apparently in the mix when he was traded... and there was talk the Flyers were looking at him in 2013.

Guy is a monster. Him and Coburn would have been a great pairing. And a lot of fun to watch.

Though it would likely have centred around JVR +. And he was a far bigger risk back then due to the injuries he was coming off.

Pascal Dupuis had a weird incident tonight. Goligoski knocked him down in front of the Dallas net and a Letang shot hit him on what looked like his neck.

He had to be removed via stretcher.
