Mike Yeo might be nicest guy, but if he doesn't get his head off his *** on about PP he needs to go.

Game 6, season on the line:

Koivu 4:01 PP time
Heatley 2:51 PP time

Granlund 1:59 PP time

This type of favouritism of Koivu or other veterans has cost us quite a few games during the season. In the playoffs, too.

Granlund is the best player on PP on this team. He's one of the best PP player in the world. Why Yeo just doesn't get it?

He's still learning, that's why.

He's taken some amazing strides just in the past few weeks. But he still goes back to some old habits like he does with the powerplay. Hopefully he looks back and learns over the summer and we come back and we see the wild in the same form we saw them in for most of the playoffs, only improved because we'll have a better roster and Yeo will be that much more experienced.

I think we'll see a bonafide special teams coach brought in at some point this offseason. People say Adam Oates won't even think about it unless it's a head coaching job, but who in their right mind would hire him as a head coach? Maybe Garth Snow...

I'm honestly excited to see what happens next year. We saw from the Wild in the playoffs the same we saw from them in the first 10 games of the season: strong puck possession. And in addition we were able to score a lot more reliably in the playoffs as well. So, things are moving in the right direction.

Even the announcers were saying over and over how bad and predictable the Wild's PP was. Everyone except Mike Yeo could see how bad it was.

He had this issue before and brought in Andrew Brunette who apparently did nothing with the PP.

I heard that too. Who was that? Can the Wild hire him to coach the PP?

No, he is not.

Honestly if Yeo can just find a guy to run the PP and help out with the strategy, that would be for the best. Players absolutely love him, the media absolutely loves him, everyone loves him, except the PP is a disaster. No shame in hiring a PP specialist coach, that's what they do in football.

Wasn't that why Brunette was brought on board?

I always thought Bruno was the guy who tries to help players make minor adjustments to make Yeo's PP more successful? Not directly deciding who is on the PP or what type of overall scheme they run in the zone.

The team in the playoffs looked like the team in the beginning of the year except we were actually scoring this time.

I think Yeo needs to figure out how to get more out of the players on the road. You can't have home/road splits like we had and make it all the way to a cup.

That's how I saw us in the playoffs. I saw the team we wanted to see the whole damn year.

We should get Walz more involved in coaching the team.

This team limped along on the road all season and into the playoffs. In the end it costs us. Can't count on staying perfect at home and praying for 1 road win a series to win the cup.

I'm excited for Yeo's future though. He looked completely broken up in the presser afterwards. He kept it together all season and you could really tell he loves his team.

Good lessons learned the last 2 post seasons.
1. Found out what its like to get smoked in a series
2. Found out what its like to have your heart ripped out.

Im expecting a "we wont let that happen again" attitude next year

Yeah, I'm expecting Yeo to grow a lot as a coach over the summer and see what he does with the team next year out of training camp.

The worst part about it, is that we are not even running the umbrella PP the right way. I mean, if you are going to run that system, you HAVE to have defensemen capable of getting the puck on net. When we do that, we actually score.

Yeo will probably get 3-4 year deal I'd guessed. He did earn it, good for him.

However, special teams HAVE to improve this off season, oh my they were bad. No doubt that needs to improve on both sides of the puck.

He's still learning though and did show growth this year, hopefully he continues to and adapts and changes.

I don't think our pp will ever be in the top10 as long as Suter is the only defenseman on the point and playing almost the whole pp. They should just put Spurgeon there already and Pominville on the point has never worked so i don't know why they insist on it. We should have the personnel(good playmakers and good scorers) but they have to use the right skaters.

After the collapse in Washington...I doubt it. He'll have to put in a few years as an assistant before he gets another shot.
