What if it was Cale Makar? We're not trading for KarlssonWhen Friedman spoke on how Dorion had a trade in place but the dman blocked it, what if it was Karlsson? Maybe he just straight up doesn't want to come back.

It goes to the point of coming up with a specific definition in this case of a fanbase. I'd say there was a fair bit of unbridled optimism in here, but have no way of really quantifying it. I wouldn't call it a majority of Senator HFers though. I agree with that. I think there was a segment of the Twitter crowd that were off the charts with optimism. I think the preseason smack talk is always dumb and has a habit of backfiring. Signing this player or that player is great. But, hockey is a team game. You still have to see how the players mesh together. Are we talking HF, or general public?
I think most people around here at least had expectations of being a bubble team if all went well.
I don't recall too many people assuming we were playoff bound.
Lives in Ottawa every summer, and skates with the Ottawa guys, so I doubt it Was Karlsson. When Friedman spoke on how Dorion had a trade in place but the dman blocked it, what if it was Karlsson? Maybe he just straight up doesn't want to come back.
