Another comment. Hitch made a specific mention of Brayden Point. How any coach would love a player like that who plays the game the right way, is always back, is supporting back.

Do people think a coach with 50 yrs experience is saying stuff at length like that at random? For no reason. Of course he's indirectly communicating what any coach wants, that forwards have to be 200ft responsible to have a successful club. Even on the highest scoring club in the league. Even that team has very responsible players like Palat, Point, etc and a lineup devised by Yzerman and hand selected with responsible qualities in mind.

But the Oilers were so arrogant they just figured they could go toe to toe with that team and trade chances. Its like going into the ring with Joe Frasier in prime and taking the match inside wanting to trade shots. You're going down if you do that.

I don't know how Oilers fans would be too happy with a team playing like free agents not even heeding the game plan. Its a huge problem.

Hows Zykov playing?
Any chance the Hurricanes get him back?

He hasn't gotten much of a chance and in the games he's played he hasn't really been noticeable. Given Edmonton's history with Russian players, he'll probably be waived in a month or two. I see him, Spooner and Rattie getting waived soon with Marody, Yamamoto and Benson taking their spots.

The Oilers got outshot but looked like they hung in there pretty well against one of the top teams in the league. Nurse had a few excellent defensive plays. He is one player that has risen up to the current challenge at the Oilers defense with all their injuries again. Koskinen was so-so.
