Signed with Munich in the DEL:

Wouldn't have been opposed to seeing him on a PTO at camp. Seems like just yesterday we saw him debut with the Leafs, along with Steen. Was a good soldier for us through some dark times.

Not a bad career, 1003 games.

One of those guys where I'd hear his name while watching and think to myself, "He's still playing in the NHL?" He had a decent career.

I remember being excited with the notion of a Sundin-Steen-Stajan trio down the middle.

Pretty sure I mentioned it on this board last season when he played 1000 games. There was a debate going on between my friends and I about whether or not he should be in he Hall of Fame for playing 1000 games.

While playing 1000 games is an accomplishement, it's definately not HOF worthy.

What the ****?
It was not a debate on Stajin but more to do with player played over 1000 games in the modern age bc you can see that teams are rather have young ELC playing on the 4th line than vets. Thus, the player must be doing something right to be able to stick around.

UNICH — Veteran NHL centre Matt Stajan is headed to Germany.
The 34-year-old from Mississauga, Ont., has signed with the DEL's Munich Red Bulls. The team confirmed the transaction on its website Wednesday.
Stajan had 146 goals and 267 assists in 1,003 NHL games with both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames.
He spent 2017-18 with the Flames and had four goals and eight assists in 68 games before becoming an unrestricted free agent.
Toronto selected Stajan in the second round, 57th overall, in the 2002 NHL entry draft.
The Leafs traded him to Calgary in 2010 in a multi-player deal that sent defenceman Dion Phaneuf to Toronto.

Matt is a Mississauga boy who started his NHL career with Toronto.

Sad to see him go.

Shudder to think he was once one of our bright young lights.

Got a very long career out of a pretty limited skillset.

Yea, I think I remember a report in his rookie year with the Leafs that he was still living with mom and dad.
He had a few decent years in Calgary. Good luck to a former Leaf.

Still convinced we completely ruined an entire generation of decent leafs talent - guys who had produced before the nhl, and guys who were producing to start their nhl careers, and then just fizzled into nothing.

Steen and Stralman were lucky to escape while they could.

Imagine we actually had proper management back then.

Probably won’t trade away Rask, that’s our No.1 till now.
Stralman, Steen, Stajan....
