If the word 'concussion' even gets mentioned, I'd be enormously relieved if it's just the flu. Last thing we want is something that can have lingering symptoms for weeks and months.

INJURY UPDATE: #Flyers GM Paul Holmgren announced Matt Read suffered torn rib cage muscles in last night's game. He will be out for 6 weeks

NHLFlyers

By those standards (well players usually come back early) that's 19 games if I counted correctly.

Ugh. Just when the boys were beginning to put it together. Still, Hartnell will be back soon. Maybe we'll get an injury free team someday.

Looking at the last five minutes, at 14:23 he sort of falls awkwardly into the boards. Gets back up and looks fine. Malkin hits him a few seconds later, doesn't look like anything special. 16:35 Kunitz hits him into the boards, also pretty run-of-the-mill. If there was a 'puck to the chest' (or something else), it must have happened in the first 15. Or maybe an old injury that finally caught up with him?

Paging Mr Poulin.....Read needs your flak jacket!

This is not cool....Read is a very important player. Plays in so many situations....6 weeks is tough.
