1500 games for a forward who never broke 50 pts in unheard of.

He is the leading scorer of his draft year despite never getting 50 in a year. Freaking...amazing.

He is the best average player in the history of the league.

I kinda mean this.....he should have some sort of Hall of Fame recognition. I don't know what the hell it could be, but he IS the best average player ever.

While this is true, let's not forget he put 48 pts in 79 GP in 2002, 49 pts in 78 GP (2006), 49 pts in 59 games (2008), 43 pts in 69 GP (2009). So, yeah, he was 50 pts player in his prime.

I still remember waiting outside gm place for Canuck players to leave and ask for autographs. He came out and was willing to sign my Canuck flag. Class act dude. That was in 1999.

I get what you are saying here, his scoring totals make him average, but he has always been one of the better players on whatever team he was on. He is the rare player that can score as well as play in a defensive role, play on line 4 or on line 1.

In the SCF, game 6, score tied 0-0 in the third period, he led Penguin centers in ice time. At age 40.

Seems logical that this will be his last season but he's scoring at 25 point pace and leading the team in SH/TOI for the forwards, certainly looks like he could play another year. Could go for two and beat Chelios record.
