Noob here..... I checked EBgames' "coming soon", and I see 2 games.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Marvel vs capcom Infinite

Are they different, or is 1 just a better version of the other?

Infinite is the new game and UMVC3 is a rerelease of the last game.

UMVC3 is pretty old, and I'd guess fairly inactive outside the competitive scene (which is also kinda dead).

Infinite will probably be pretty popular, as MvC is an FGC favorite and Marvel is hot **** right now. Depends on the game itself, though.

Some of those are likely to be DLC.

Marvel is only now coming around and allowing licensed works to use the characters that whose film rights are owned by Fox. A Capcom rep confirmed that they can use whomever, but reading behind the lines, they were told to promote MCU first and foremost.

Obviously its meta is undeveloped but still.

Without question what Capcom brought to showcase and announce was all kinds of fail, comparably to the Geese Tekken 7 addition, the cross BlazBlue tag, and DBZ news

The shilling of FGC vets was and still is getting insurmountably ridiculous, the so-called "fixes", DLC speculation abroad, faith continues to slip away they go ahead and reveal Abigail in SFV. It's scary to imagine if this bad boy flops out of the gate as hard as SFV if any direction the franchise has left.
