Well I don't think they have enough space as of today to take his remaining cap hit (could be wrong), and I would imagine Vegas doesn't want his full cap hit. If LA were retaining, the trade would be done and announced so Martinez can get a full practice in Wed.

Giving something to Anaheim to retain seems possible and seems like something they would do over moving out another roster player.

Totally agree. And Martinez isn’t just a rental. He’s got a second year at a fair cap hit. Blake should hold out for the most he can get, by making a bidding war.

For next year TSN/Sportsnet will have to make it Trade Deadline week so they can capture all the good trades because teams just wait until the last day anymore.

Vegas doesn't have 1.5m in cap space. The 3.995m mentionned is factoring that percentage. In reality, if this was October, they actually have roughly 900k of cap space.
