Nice lineup:
I would like to see Heinola play big minutes on the Moose if he isn't going to be used by Maurice on the big team. I also would like to see him converted fully to RD.
The forwards are going to be a bit tricky to come up with some legit top 6 scoring lines, we don't look to have enough players with talent. We really only have Perfetti, Ves, and Suess if Gus stays up.
Even with the lack of quality forwards it would be interesting to see a PP with Heinola and Gawanke on the points. Heinola should play a lot, he's a kid that needs to keep going with the pace he was setting before the World Juniors. I like the idea of starting him at 1RD on either the Jets or Moose, but I also hope that Luke Green doesn't get squeezed by numbers. This is an important year for him, and maybe he can make an impression to get another chance next year with the Jets organization.
Have no idea what to expect from Perfetti at the AHL level, he will be playing in a men's league, so it's a good challenge for him. The offense is definitely thin, but Vesalainen could make improvement. Reichel was scoring at a good clip to finish the season. Mc Kenzie isn't a bad player either, he was a prolific junior scorer. Both are in their 3rd pro years, which is generally the best for prospects. But beyond that you are hoping for AHL contracts at forward to carry you, and there's not much development in that, unless someone plays well enough like Reichel to earn a 2 way contract. But most of these guys are all about 24/25 already so that's a long way from the NHL. Brett Davis from Oakbank, as a tryout, is among the youngest forwards in camp, after Perfetti and conceivably Ves, in the near future. .
I expect Gustafsson to hold down a centre spot on the Jets until Dubois is ready to go, and if he does well enough, #19 could bump somebody out of the lineup. But I'd still expect him on the Moose to get more minutes, PP and especially PK reps, to be an effective callup for an injury replacement after that. One of him or Suess should be on the Moose, just to have a leader at centre.
When Poolman returns, the Jets will be forced with decisions.
The likelihood is Stanley goes onto the taxi squad, as adding both Dubois and Poolman would put us at 24 players, including Gus. Nogier I could see being a fixture on there, because we have RH defenseman to develop. After that I have no idea what the plan is.
Seems like the Jets have saved a few dollars with AHL contracts dominating their team. It's standard $70 000 for ELCs, Suess and Nogier get a bit more. Toninato is over $350 000 if he ever comes off IR. Not sure what an AHL contract is worth. But it's marginally better than CERB I suspect.
