Following the recent trend of other threads.
The Rangers are still entrenched in their rebuild but perhaps may be turning a corner with a massive influx of picks and prospects over the last 2-3 seasons and not many prime assets in position to be sold off.
NYR would be looking for hockey deals for a Young Top 4 defenseman and a young top 6 forward and more picks and prospects depending on the value of the asset. They also would like to move up into the 6-14 range of the draft if a deal presents itself.
Untouchables: #2 overall pick, Mika Zibanejad, Vitali Kravtsov, K’Andre Miller, Adam Fox
Assets on the block****: Chris Kreider, Vlad Namestnikov, Jimmy Vesey, Ryan Strome, Neal Pionk, Kevin Shattenkirk, Brendan Smith, Marc Staal, #20 overall (not keen on moving unless used to move up or for a prime young asset)
Guys like Buchnevich and Skjei and other assets not listed above can be had for the right price if it’s a deal that makes sense for the Rangers.
In addition, the Rangers will take on cap dumps from other teams that are cap strapped if it means acquiring a young asset as a reward and/or retain salary on players to make deals more attractive.
