I honestly can't decide which one is "better" but aren't they kind of a fantastic duo for #1 & #2 picks in the same draft year? MacKinnon could be the perfect offensive dynamo a la McDavid lite and Barkov is your prototypical winning #1C with defensive game off the charts and those dirrrty mittens too. That was a good draft year for sure!

McDavid is having a worse season mainly because the Oilers PP is so terrible and they get the least PP opportunities in the league.

He comftorably leads the league in even strength scoring.

Colorado have working PP in top line. Edmonton is worst in the league. They lack PMD at PP and avs have elite one in Barrie. McDavid has 66 points in ES compared to MacKinnon 51. Get better PP players to edmonton and we see McDavid jumping away from any players in offensive production.

Colorado's PP only works because of MacKinnon. When he was out it dropped to 7%, with him on the ice it's at over 20%. That is a positive for MacKinnon, not a negative.

Barkov. Has been producing at this high level for years now, and is the only top u23 center with Selke potential. McDavid, Matthews, Eichel, Barkov, Mackinnon, Draisaitl and Monahan are all star young centers but really only Barkov stands out for his defense. The fact he keeps up with the rest of them offensively is what makes me vote for him.

Barkov doesn't keep up with McDavid offensively tho. And McDavid's defense is closer to Barkov's than Barkov's offence is to McDavid's
