No sweeter sound than the silence from an obnoxious visiting hockey fan shutting the **** up after your team scores the go ahead goal - you with me here AG?

What a completely obnoxious group I had camped around me tonight. :shakehead

Hayes seems like the best player in that deal (Olsen has looked awful lately). I think Petrovic will be better long term than Robak, but he had a great game tonight with stick position/body on body and seemed more physical on bodies than Petrovic did. Petro is a strong kid, but even he can bulk up a bit this summer to earn top4 minutes next season. Pirri and Trocheck look like NHL players to me. Pirri needs to move to wing though to lessen his defensive responsibilities. Huberdeau was ok, but he needs to be better. Too many turnovers at the bluelines, too soft on puck, floats a bit too much on the back check. I like the kid, but he has a lotttt to work on this summer. Louie did not seem to play with fire tonight , off night for him.

Boyes and Upshall have been great for these young guys coming up. I really like their attitude and fire late in the season.

Congratulations to Vinny and Howden on their play as well. It's really fun to watch this team play without pressure.

I've noticed Petro is always a bit off his game when we call him up. I think he needs a few games to get comfortable and mesh with the guys. He should only get better.

Totally agree. Do not think Petro is ready for the NHL yet. He hesitates with his decisions, gets caught slow-footed at times and will take the odd stupid penalty. I do not want to see him in the team's top 6 next season. He just isn't ready for it and I don't think an off-season will do it. He needs more pro-playing time.

It was great so squash the Devils when they're trying to get into the playoffs. We sure love coming back against them at home eh? :yo:

Love seeing Howden get his 2nd goal. Last night's was a bit of a fluke/misplay by Bishop, tonight was a good hockey goal. Those couple goals will do wonders for his confidence. I am ok with him starting next season on the 4th line. He has incredible speed and if he can turn into a Radek Dvorak type player like I've wanted from him for a couple of years now (defensive specialist, SHG threat and good for around 25-30 points a season) then I think the franchise will be happy with him. I think him and Hayes on our 4th line will be great. One has speed, one has some grit, and they're both really big boys.

The team is providing some offense over the last few weeks which is really nice to see. We have some really creative, talented, young players out there and it's starting to show. As others have said, Upshall has turned himself around completely with this franchise. Would love to see him on the 3rd line next season (where he'll most likely be), but if Jovo is bought out/retires, I think Scottie is a serious contender for this team's next captaincy.

Congrats to Vinny Trocheck for getting his first career NHL goal, but anyone else a little worried about the bad mojo of scoring your first on an empty net? Last rookie to do that for us was Rusty Olesz, and we all know how that turned out.

Overall, we showed up for 2 periods and managed to win. Bobby Lou is going to be pumped to play his old mates on Sunday, hopefully the rest of the boys bring a solid effort and we can get a win.

If Petro is getting top-4 minutes next year, it's going to be another loooooong season.

We had a group of them behind us dropping f-bombs all game and screaming. So glad to hear them shut up and then leave early.

the one thing that stands out to me is grit. we have size and speed, but i don't see much grit. it's a lot more evident on most 4th lines, ie. devils, boston, pitts, etc.
love beating the devils. my neighbor is a devils fan and he is obnoxious and clueless. i found that with a lot of their fans, also with flyers fans.

Was at practice and saw Barkov outside, took a picture with him and asked how he was. Said he was feeling better but wasn't sure if he'd be back this season. Nice guy (female friend said I HAVE to take a pic with him, he laughed and obliged), and he's huge.

Thought I would link this here too

dont get worked up about it, it has always been like that and Im sure it always will. many canadians believe there should be no nhl teams in non hockey markets, and when they come across a photo like that well it just fuels them.

My email exchange with the author:

Me:
"Love how you addressed '10 minutes before the game,' but not during. Was a decent crowd for a team out of the playoffs. Oh, all the Devil jerseys? That's what happens in the vacation destination for all the northern snowbirds...or maybe you forgot that we were having nice weather when the rest of the US was snowed in?

Purgatory?? Did you miss the playoffs two years ago? Sold out arena, same when we went to the Cup. Problem isn't the fans pal, it was the former owners. Cohen and company couldn't get out of their own way, and my parents (as well as many others) decided not to give their hard earned money to those clowns. I don't like it, I hate that transplants who would sit next to me would don a different jersey when their 'hometown' team was in town and cheer wildly when they had a Panther jersey on nights before, cheering them on the same.

It's different here, a lot of transplants and fans who won't pay for rubbish, but they'll come out when you show that you're worth a damn.

I guess, though, that you (like so many others) forgot that Boston, Chicago, Washington, and Pittsburgh all had worse attendance when their teams were bad. It only happens here?? Once in what, 15-16 years have we made the playoffs and there's still a good showing? I'd say that's pretty good, but you'll only pour on the hate, cause we don't 'deserve' a team in the south, right?

Educate yourself a bit, please. See how much the game has grown since they've been here. Hockey rinks, the game is in schools, recreationally...the game is loved here, but keep thinking you have us pegged. We're used to the know-it-alls here in 'purgatory.'"

His reply: "there were 7000 at the game"

I responded with:
"7000 huh? Yeah, you're one to take seriously. Using your own eyes you could've seen that.

http://scores.espn.go.com/nhl/boxscore?gameId=400485242 (link is to ESPN who provides attendance numbers.)"

Him: "that's incorrect

you clearly weren't there

i have loads of photos

sorry, but this is the worst hockey market in the nhl"

My reply: "You clearly don't know anything about Club Red, and it sure seems you've forgotten about VIP areas and luxury boxes.
I wasn't there, I watched on TV. Not hard to tell there were a lot more than 7,000. Further, my roommate WAS there and says you're as off your rocker as I say you are.

Pictures, huh? Like the one with the Zamboni on the ice? That was clearly before puck drop. Or did you take em a few minutes before or even up to 5 minutes after periods?

My eyes work, so do all my friends'.

I never said we weren't one of, if not THE worst, but you have absolutely no desire to understand why. You don't care to learn how the game has grown. All you want to do is bash the team. You're wrong. I'll say it over and over again, even though I know it'll fall on a mind made up out of ignorant stupidity"

His reply: "I know why

the arena location is hilariously stupid

Not to mention it's in florida"

My reply: "Yeah thanks, just as I said, you're only interested in being obnoxiously ignorant. Congrats, you're article may be full of garbage, but you achieved being obnoxious and ignorant.

South Florida is pretty built out, as an FYI, and it's stupid? You can get there within 20-30 minutes from most areas and is surrounded by freeways.

What else ya got, or are you gonna pull out numbers that aren't true and pics that don't reflect the reality?"

He has yet to respond. As Bugs would say, "what a maroon!"

i sent him an e-mail too, here's what i wrote ;)

Rumor has it you wanted to hear from a fan from last nights game.

I was there. Got to see it with my own eyes.

If you truly think there was only 7,000 fans at that game you might want to visit an ophthalmologist.

Funny how in the article you wrote in the Province, you forget to mention how the Miami Heat were playing at home at the same time. or how the Panthers were in 2nd to last place, again, for the second consecutive season. or how they have failed to miss the playoffs 11 out of the last 12 years.

but why would you mention that anyway? it's not like you're interested in actual honest journalism, instead you maliciously use your pen to misguide naive individuals 3,000 miles away with no basic facts, because...well, you can and no one can stop you.

it's too bad people like you get jobs in journalism. people with no desire to do actual reporting, instead using their throne to spew their own personal agendas.

you should thank your lucky stars that your employer is somehow is actually dumber than you are for keeping you in the business.

Oh, and by the way, I have pictures too, which i have attatched for your viewing pleasure.

Enjoy.

Love the e-mails you guys sent! I was planning on sending him one too, but idk im too lazy lol. Would be funny to give his employer an email tho, telling him how his journalist doesn't use facts and uses only his opinions on his articles

Very well written responses by both of you towards this piece of crap so-called "journalist." Unfortunately, even if we win a Stanley Cup and sellout every game in a season, we will never get respect from Canadian markets and their media. I try my best to just shrug it off and think they're all idiots, but after hearing this for almost two decades now, it's impossible not to be sick and tired of it.

First post ever... Wanted to join for awhile now but after seeing that article I finally had something to say. Whoever wrote it is an idiot. He doesn't know anything about this team or its history, just like everyone else who bashes the Panthers.

Anyway, I was at the game, and there were WAY more than 7,000. Even on a bad night, the BB&T draws around 11,000-12,000, and Friday was not a bad night. Especially for a team that is out of the playoffs, competing with 3 other major sports, one of which (Heat) have won back to back championships.

I do have to say though, there were some pretty annoying Devils fans around me. One guy in particular behind be couldn't keep his mouth shut. He was there with his girlfriend and kept talking **** about the Panthers as if he was at a home game. "Yo these guys are such ******* hahaha", "Man Luongo sucks hahahaha Panthers suck dick hahahaha", etc. It felt so good to see his stupid face when Vinny got the open netter. I know not all NJ fans are like that but jeez.
