Henrik is Henrik. Not everyone can be like that.

I wouldn't change much about this team to be honest. We're finding out that the two teams winning all the Cups lately have locker rooms akin to Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro in Casino.

A loss would actually ruin his weekend.
He once said in an interview: "One time i had to be be benched(because i was playing bad) and i went to the back while the game was not over yet and took my frustration out on things in there"

Short story : Lundqvist trashed the locker room and had to pay for the damages. Think it was in Minnesota, so maybe Gaborik's 5 goals?

Love the guy.

I'm not sure if it is Jeff Carter's skating style, or maybe what came out of his sudden departure from the Flyers along with Mike Richards, but I have never considered him unmotivated or not putting in the effort. I have seen him play some wonderful hockey.
I totally agree that talent is important, obviously.

Edit: I need to amend this. The entire Kings squad looked disengaged last season and they got the result they deserved. That's a collective thing, and Carter was part of that collective poor play.
T-e-a-m. Emotion is good. Love Hank's emotion.

Pft. I'm waking up at 550 to get a skate in tomorrow AM before working from home all day. Hasn't made me a superstar yet :(

One thing I think we take for granted, is that every season, we never have to worry about our goalie. Since the start of the 06-07 season, the Rangers and their fans have never had to worry about:

A) who was going to be in between the pipes in October

and

B) what we were going to get out of that goalie.

This dude just ****ing oozes consistency. Elite, already a lock for the hall of fame with six seasons to go consistency.

Get this guy a ****ing cup already.

Any Rangers captain worth a damn won't take the cup from Bettman before giving it to Hank to lift first.

Where the **** is October?

I'm pretty sure it was the fact that he sulked in Columbus until he got traded to LA to be with his BFF Richards. That left a bad taste in people's mouths when it cane to carter and his attitude.

We all know this, I think that the brass understands this as well. There are more competitors needed on this squad. It helps to have good chemistry yes, but it helps to have accountability as well.

I think Hank is an old man compared to some of the younger forwards on the team, and some of them make a lot of money to live in NYC... which for those that don't know.. can be quite an enjoyable lifestyle.

The Rangers did move out a couple of players that were that type of player in my opinion... I don't want my posts deleted for a TOS violation, but there were quite a few Rangers in recent years that absolutely loved playing in NYC because of the city and perhaps not the jersey.

Immediately what comes to mind is Emerson Etem. I follow him on Instagram and he has posted a bunch of photos with him going to a party or a concert or whatever, like a typical 23 year old would. I think we don't see a lot of that from the players on this squad, have to think someone is gonna talk to him in training camp about it, tell him to be selective about what he posts and such.

Can't disagree on any of your points, and yet I've never been able to shake the feeling that this club is a bit too chummy. Sometimes that works, but I don't get that vibe here.

In my mind they don't all have to be as fierce as Lundqvist - that would be overkill and probably have the reverse effect. But there are times I sense the whole "Get Along Gang" vibe from this crew.

The best wines in the world tend to come from grapes that have a good balance of "stress" applied to them. Too much stress and the grapes are ruined. Too little and the wine isn't robust. I'd like to see just a little "Stress" in order to take this crop to the never level.

I understand what you're saying but to me the personality doesn't matter as long as the team wins. They've done everything but win the Cup and the only 2 teams doing that recently have circus **** show locker rooms with stuff going on that I can't even bring up.

I dunno, I feel like a decent smattering of important guys seem pretty hardcore about winning. Hank, obviously, McD, Girardi, Staal, Stepan, Nash, Zucc, D. Moore. That's the core leadership right there. That seems like enough guys with the right attitudes to me, assuming they are doing the job of pushing that way of approaching the game on their teammates and holding everybody accountable.

Add in kreider and brassard. Those guys are very hardcore especially in the POs.

I'm saying some guys don't have to try hard to win so compete is just bs

I don't see what your getting at here.. Jeff Carter won by being a second line center on a stacked team. You make it like he is a super star that doesn't care about winning.

To me the fiercest guys are Henrik and D guys like McDonagh and Girardi who pay the price with their shot blocking. Zuccarello with his cocky 'you're not going to push me around' attitude. Dom Moore is another one. Tom Wilson gives Moore a dirty shot and Moore gives Wilson an even dirtier one--and it's not the first time I've see Moore do that. Kevin Klein I'd give kudos to--there's no way he's beating up Brandon Prust but Prust ****s with his goalie--the fight is on--and not just once--it happened twice. Kreider is off and on--when he's in beast mode he's a monster but he's not consistent. Fast I think has possibilities.

Brassard as well... the "Take a ****ing seat" video is trademark him

He's gotta tone it down. It's the summer, he's new to NY and just signed a new contract so I understand wanting to enjoy it a bit... but if he underperforms... you know where the ire is going to be directed.

A certain team traded a veritable superstar because of what he did off the ice, and his best buddy was traded by the Rangers a little too late. They would have gotten a more if he got the boot earlier, although they got a very good return.

What makes you say Carter doesn't have to try hard? He's a top 6 NHL forward, I'm sure he tries hard.

And he was 2C on a stacked team that surely had a handful of guys who compete like Hank on it.

Yeah, the Kings especially with Voynov, Stoll and Richards all in one year. Really makes you wonder about how much emphasis is put on having a "good room" and if that is really important at all in the end.
