Given the full NMC, better question might be which teams could Lundqvist potentially be interested in...

He's not going anywhere.

The funny thing is, NJ actually makes a ton of sense here. Lundqvist might agree to go there since it's so close (literally a 25 minute train ride from MSG), and NJ needs another goaltender for next season.

To NJ: Lundqvist (full salary)

To NYR: Schneider - 50% retained ($6m/2 = $3 million/year over two years for the Rangers)

Then the Rangers buy out Schneider so they have a cap hit of $1 million/year over 4 years instead of 1 year @ 8.5 million for Lundqvist.

Haha, checkmate, SJ doesn't have anyone that valuable so he can't come back.

If he were to waive, i think he'd make sense trying to win a cup with the Flames next year, but I can't seem to make a fair trade and no thanks Bern i don't want your offer

No good team trying to go for it should be after King.
Even at 50 he’s expensive for backup.

If he would waive for a trade it would be for a contender chasing the cup not for the freaking Devils.

Ideally he prefers to go chase a cup.
However, if he really does not wanna leave otherwise, this is a situation where politics makes strange bedfellows.
Numbers can be made to work.

Think NY wants and gets a sweetener tho on top of cap relief.

Why would either team do this? NJ isnt competing for the next 2 years, so Schneiders contract isnt that big of a burden. Then NYR sell lundquist without getting any assets back, the only thing they get is cap relief for 1 year in a year they wont hit the cap? Makes no sense.

Hank would probably retire before something like this came to fruition.

Nobody goes to the Devils if they can help it, Hank isn't going to waive for a spot on another rebuilding team. The purpose would be to get rid of Hanks salary, not take on Schneiders.
